Kalbi Taco Shack - Saint Louis

I really liked the unique concept of this Asian-Mexican fusion restaurant. I ordered the sweet and tangy jackfruit burrito, and I appreciated how well it was wrapped—I could bite into it without it falling apart. However, the sauce and overall flavor were just average, so I probably wouldn't order that particular dish again. Still, I'm definitely interested in trying more items from the menu. The restaurant also featured a fantastic dragon mural that added to the ambiance.

I've always wanted to try this restaurant, and I'm so glad I finally did! I'm not sure if they've recently opened or just relocated, but I'm excited to see them at the City Foundry food hall. When I visited, they were only serving tacos and a few side dishes, but everything was delicious. I tried the sweet and spicy pork taco, which definitely leaned more toward the sweet side. However, the Asian salad topping added a wonderful flavor that enhanced the taco overall. I actually think it's better than Seoul Taco, and I'd love to come back for another visit. I do want to mention that the taco prices were a bit on the high side – $4.50 for a single taco with a two-taco minimum, and I believe the beef option was $11 for two.

I absolutely love Kalbi Taco Shack and find myself ordering from there nearly every time I visit the City Foundry. Their approach to Asian fusion cuisine really stands out, and they do an exceptional job with the marinades for their different meat fillings. My favorite dish is the tofu burrito.

Kalbi is wonderful. I love the sweet and spicy jackfruit taco. Let's hope the new location at the City Foundry is a success!

As someone who can be very picky, because I wasn’t raised on a very diverse food palate, I’m always nervous to try new things. Kalbi Taco Shack blew me away. I loved loved loved the teriyaki rice bowl. Definitely will be returning.
