A must-see address of the region! an excellent table with a discreet and professional service. fresh and seasonal products, as well as what nature has to offer us according to the period. In short, a nice gourmet trip for a moment in a soothing place!
Yes there is a cricket club in the Vendee!! The venue for this occasion was the well regarded restaurant tucked away in a rural yet very pleasant village. We were a bit concerned about eating somewhere for a mass catering do but were re assured by our fellow diners. The bar is a mixture of traditional French and modern industrial chic and the restaurant has stone walls and beams along with modern art on display. The meal was stunning from start to finish a Kir to welcome us followed by home made mini appetisers. The starter was either parsnip soup or a pie made from various meats both were excellent. The main was either chicken or fish, again super tasty, as were the desserts. The wine was also excellent. as was the service. The cost was extremely reasonable and we will definitely return for another evening meal.
The restaurant bar was literally two minutes walk from our accommodation and we ate there on three occassions; two dinners and a lunch. We also enjoyed a drink in the bar on a number of occasions. Lunch is great value at €12.70 for three courses and the place was filled with customers from the locality. The food is very straightforward made from good quality local ingredients; hearty probaly the best way to describe it. Dinner is a different proposition. Much more refined with clearly a great deal of thought and work going into each dish. The menu changes regularly to reflect the best of what Willy (the chef) can source; we enjoyed foie gras with escargots; excellent pork, fish and veal and a number of wonderful desserts. Service was excellent with very good recommendations on local wines to complement the food. Overall a gem in the Vendee countryside.
Excellent food based around local produce, friendly service, warm ambiance and nice selection of wines (local and otherwise). A hidden gem in the sleepy little village of St Juire but worth the effort to discover if you haven't already.
