Le Temps des Mets - Saint-Jean-de-Côle

Location : Beautiful. Village is gorgeous and the restaurant is perfectly set near the river. Our table was beneath a lovely shady tree. Food: Absolutely delicious. Rack of Lamb with Walnut sauce was exquisite. Lovely presentation. Service: First rate. Owner was very welcoming and friendly...(so too owner 's dog, 'Dooky ' who took his welcoming duties very seriously! . They graciously tolerated our bad french language skills but quickly helped in english when needed. Cost: Three course dinner €24. Very reasonable given exceptional standard of food. Other Comments: Restaurant not open every evening; Thur, Fri, Sat only we think. Restaurant was busy but with every spears out beneath the trees it felt quite private. We took both our dogs along as well and they were welcomed.

We had the last table her on a Tuesday with the 3 of us. Amazing food food and prices. Very nice staff and great ambiance.

This is one of our favourite places for lunch in France. Saint Jean de Cole is a very special place, richly deserving its listing as one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France. We have visited in the sunshine, in the rain, in Spring and...Summer. The flower festival in May is an 'unmissable ' but Les Temps des Mets is an idyllic setting and very French. Booking is certainly advisable. As this is a typical restaurant run by a hard-working couple, it 's best to leave a message and they 'll ring back. The service is excellent and the food very French : the menu varies month by month and vegetarians are certainly welcome. We just love sitting outside under the trees where the shade is perfect and there 's always entertainment. This time it was a big family birthday party next to us, but we were just as special. Allow time also to explore the village. One time we went into the church and listened to an English choir practising 'O for the wings of a dove '. Ooohh, it 's a lovely place and this restaurant is right in the middle of it all.

We came here last summer and had a delightful meal outside but this time the weather wasn't good and they had sensibly moved everyone indoors. It was a lovely meal and Rachel very entertaining (her English is very good) and be cause I'd forewarned her my wife is a veggie they had prepared a special main course for her.The location is wonderful,this is one of the prettiest villages in France and Wednesday means you can listen to the next day's choir rehearsing in the church. There's lots to see but eating here is a high point. The 'Magret de canard' (a standard Dordogne dish not often digestible) was nicely done and we couldn't resist the desserts.Booking is essential. The email link didn't work and as they are very busy just leave a message and they'll be back shortly.

We got there over 30 mins late for our booked table of 10 and it had been given away due to a heavy rain shower forcing the outside guests under cover. But the mangers made a plan for us and we enjoyed an excellent meal. All the dishes were brilliant...no complaints at all!
