At Keefer Street, on our 13th stop in our Search for Vancouver’s Best Coffee, we visit The Wilder Snail. I’m not familiar with this area. But I am fascinated by this intriguing combination of organic, gluten free grocery store and neighbourhood café.
Great coffee, and a nice community feel. They sell groceries and different things like a general store too. Comfortable, welcoming, and clearly a welcome part of the neighbourhood.
A Different Pace. From the outside it looks like your stereotypical corner store you would find in any community across Canada. But don't judge this book buy its cover, because it is part coffee house, part corner store and somewhere in the back there is a bit of a bike shop hanging out.
Maybe it was chance. Maybe it was fate. It’s hard to say why life takes us to certain places at certain times but I do know this – walking into The Wilder Snail is like taking a step back into time. A happier time , a time where people left their doors unlocked, children ran freely, and most importantly, a time where Jimmy Soul and Elvis ruled the airwaves.
