We were recommended to this wonderful place by the owner of La Canopee where we were staying. The lovely lady owner here had conversations with me with her broken English and my broken French, very entertaining. The outside of the venue is charmingly done and the inside is done out like an old shop. Big inglenook fireplace with a roaring fire when we arrived, amazingly you soon got used to the heat. The menu is simple but good choice and the food was presented beautifully and excellent both in taste and value. What a lovely visit. I only wish it had been closer to where we were eventually to be staying as I would have returned here again and again and again.
Excellent, real gem, should try out; but must book in advance; service and ambience are excellent. Highly recommended.
My family and I eat in this fantastic restaurant regularly when in Corrèze. The restaurant itself is set in an idyllic hamlet opposite a beautiful church. It's styled with authentic rustic French charm (no tatty shabby chic here!). Both the food and the service is simply superb! Every menu is packed with local delights and you can be assured of the freshest ingredients in every dish. We take all our friends here! The charming owners are wonderfully caring, considerate and attentive. 'Le Chef' is worthy of a Michelin star!
"Coup de foudre" said our friends as they saw the picture-postcard exterior of this gorgeous village restaurant. The food also stole their hearts - classic french country food, well cooked, well served/waitressed, and with a nice decor. A lovely way to end a week's holiday, and they also managed to cope with a vegetarian in our group very well too. Set in idyllic countryside, a lovely meal.
The village Saint-Hilaire-Luc (near neuvic) has about 15 houses, but in one of them, this amazing restaurant is located. we stumbled by chance and because they have already been fully booked, we have made a reservation for the following evening. the atmosphere is great. especially if they sit in the garden (there are only 6 tables outside so that they could book in advance): it is very quiet and peaceful with sleek flying everywhere. the restaurant uses only local suppliers, so that the menu is limited and changes now and then. as an appetizer I had an excellent foie grass, my main course was a tasty stock. the drinks were also local: usually wein (natural,) but also some local beers and homemade limonades. for dessert we ordered all (three) desserts on the menu (creme brûlée, profiterolles and ice cream) and shared them. we couldn't decide what was the best dessert, they were all amazing. we were in france for two weeks, but that was really the best restaurant we met and also (to our surprise) quite affordable. I recommend this restaurant! I would advise them to book in advance because it is a pretty divisive way to get there and it is very popular with the local population so it is often fully booked.
