La Cocina Mexican - Saint Augustine

After reading the reviews I thought why not, sadly we were let down. I 'm a firm believer that a Mexican joint that is not super clean or board line dirty usually has some of the best food. Unfortunately, that is not the case here. The place is very dirty, the service is slow, the food is not hot and drinks are far. I really had high hope for this place. Visited for a late lunch on Saturday afternoon, not busy at all. We were seated promptly, and then we waited, and waited and waited for the server to take our drink order. When he finally did come, he was very nice and pleasant, but he was not very confident with his answers of our questions. Once we got our drinks after another 5-7 mins, they finally brought out chips and Salsa. We order our meals which he contradicted him self in the recommendation. The presentation of the meal was good but it was not remotely hot, warm maybe. I believe that if the food was hot it would have been so much better. The cheese in my chimichanga was so cool after a few minutes of sitting at the table it was no longer soft. The steak favor was okay, but not cook right, almost felt steamed. Sadly, I was willing to give it another try in the future, the wife said absolutely not . I guess I 'm too nice.

Second time we have eaten here. First time was good and the service was awesome. The second, not so much. The male staff were all acting angry and were not interested in representing their restaurant the way they should have been. We spent more than a couple hundred bucks this go round and I had a really hard time leaving a tip. Horrible service. Take some advice, if you don't like your job, go find another one. Restaurants are in business to serve food and be friendly. I will never eat at this place again. I Feel sorry for the owners. Your staff sucked tonight.

Small quant restaurant. I have eaten hear twice. Service has always been excellent. Food is good. Authentic Mexican. It is missing a star because it is dates when it comes to cleanliness. Meds some upgrades. I would go back again.

Delicious food, but lacks generosity. The portion sizes are super small. Just see the picture for the rice and beans you get with $20 Fajita Chicken. Extra chips cost $1.99. The bill is also up charged to include a credit card fee. Unfortunately we won’t be back.

We enjoyed a fantastic lunch with friends at La Cocina Mexican Restaurant! The service was attentive, and both the food and drinks were outstanding. I ordered the Black Bean Tacos, while my wife tried the veggie empanadas. We really appreciated the cute little toothpick flags! Overall, the food and service were superb! We will certainly return to La Cocina!
