Absolutely love this place!!!!! I am so sad that they are closing October 15th. They have the best ice cream with so many unique offerings. My favorite is the Cow Catcher with chocolate ice cream. I have eaten here only a handful of times and that was years ago. But I remember the food being good I would say go there for lunch over dinner since the fare is lighter. The service is friendly and fast. They remember each customer and bring your food out to you. They even offered to keep my to go ice cream in the freezer until I was ready to leave. I really hope someone steps in and buys this place before the lease is up at the end of the year.
Restaurant was clean. Neat concept. About a dozen tables inside. Walk to the ticket counter to place your order. They were friendly. They give you a ticket with a number, the boarding pass/train ticket. They say now boarding ticket xyz when your order is ready. Neat for kids. Got the cable car sandwich for just less than 7. The sandwich was fair. Lots of bread. Not much meat. Only half slice of tomato I each half of sandwich. Needed more veggies. It was served hot so that was nice. I didn't get the ice cream so perhaps that was the failure there. However, I was looking forward to a nice sandwich for lunch. Would I eat it again? Yes. Was it worth the ? No. I heard the desserts were just ok, not the best. Though the dessert menu looked really good. Will I return? Perhaps. But not at the top of my list.
Get place to bring the family for lunch or dinner and have custard for dessert. Highly recommend!
Have you ever been to a real train station? I have not. But this place definitely made me feel like I had been! If decor could make up for the quality of the food, I could give this place a 5... All of the menu items were railroad themed, the history of Ferguson and the nearby railroad were all over the walls, AND when my food was ready, they yelled now boarding number 231! How cute is that? My dad also asked if the train tracks are still in use, and we were told that yes, if you were to have a long lunch you would probably see/feel a train go by. My group only got ice cream and it melted super fast despite the fact that we were in an air conditioned room... I don 't know why that happens, but some ice cream places just can 't hold it together so you can finish the frosty treat! I don 't think we will be back, it 's kind of out of the way for anything we do.
