We were seated outside and our waiter was not friendly at all until then end when we paid. (The waiter for the table next to us seemed very courteous. The food was mediocre. We did want to give The Hill a second chance and went to another restaurant recommended by one of our tour guides.
This is a 5 of 5 place to eat. We had guest from out of town and were happy to take them to the Hill. Prices were reasonable and the food was excellent. Our waiter Michael added to the experience he was also excellent. We chose Veal Parm, seafood scallops and fettuccine all’s gian-Tony’s. Every dish was great. We had cocktails and those also were great. We would recommend this restaurant and will return.
Delicious food, great service, ample portions and good prices! We had never been there before but we will definitely be back! I don’t normally order red sauce in a restaurant because I make my own and am very fussy about it. Some came with the toasted ravioli appetizer and it was superb! I had linguine con pesce and my husband had the tortellini- both were delicious! The only drawback was that the tables are a little close together and it was noisy. I would definitely recommend this place!
This is my family's go to restaurant in The Hill when in St. Louis. Being part Italian (from the NYC metro area) I seek out delicious Italian cuisine, and Gian-Tony's is top notch. The food and service is consistently very good. We started our meal with the Ravioli Tostati, aka Toasted Ravioli. They have to be the best Toasted Ravioli we have ever eaten. Crunchy, but not too crunchy, on the outside, and then on the inside is a meaty filling covered by a soft yet slightly al dente ravioli. We dipped it into a meaty tomato dipping sauce. Then we ordered the Mozzarella Bufala Salad. The tomatoes were firm and meaty, and tasted sweet, and topped with a slice of creamy yet slightly salty Buffalo Mozzarella cheese. Then all of it was topped with a Vinaigrette dressing that was flavorful especially with the fresh basil. My wife enjoyed her Ravioli Bolognese, and my son devoured his Pasta Con Polpette meal. He couldn't stop raving about the meatballs and how delicious they were. I ordered the Risotto Con Pesce, and enjoyed it as well. The shrimp, clams, tomatoes and mushrooms were cooked perfectly, and the saffron infused risotto was creamy and flavorful from the white wine and seafood broth. For dessert my wife enjoyed the Volcano. She raved about the warm brownie being the best one she has ever eaten. It wasn't too dense or rich just the perfect balance of each. My son and I ordered the Cannolis. The crispy shell was a perfect golden brown color. The filling was okay, but not what I was expecting. It was far too sweet and had too thin of a consistency. The Espresso was a perfect ending to the meal. Just the right amount of bitterness to counteract the sweet filling. The hostesses and servers were very friendly, helpful and attentive.Parking: Since there isn't a parking lot one has to park on the street. That is where it can get tricky because one has to drive through the neighborhood to find open spots to park on the side streets. Just be careful to read the street signs to ensure one is not parking illegally.
One of my favorite reaturant on the Hill. I brought customers from Australia and China, and they all could not stop raving about the food. The service was excellent. Our waiter had no trouble keeping the orders straight l, even with the different accents.Food: 5/5
