We drove into the small village and decided to stay in the hotel. okay room and excellent price. we asked ourselves about the village, had a drink in the local bar then back to dinner in the restaurant. excellent eating, but somewhat overpriced. we have breakfast in the morning and in the morning. I don't eat a bit so that the participant got me a teller cheese to breakfast. very nice staff and we will recommend it to other traveling.
A colleague and I, both 64, work in basel and spend the weekends when we do not fly home to explore our families. we decided to drive from st. louis to bessancon in the short term. the only big village/small town on the...route is st hippolyte. best to do the route in this direction. we parked on the city square and noticed this restaurant because of a series of very expensive motorcycles parked outside. that's a good sign in this opposite. the entrance looked dark and empty inside, but 12:15 on a French Sunday we decided to risk it or starve. we have a very pleasant surprise. after the walk through the dark entrance and the bar we entered a glass-side dining room with magnificent views of the river, the old town and the jura mountains. we were quickly shown to a good table, and given the menu that had local specialties. although the restaurant was absolutely full until 12:30 clock, the service was super. we probably chose the most expensive meal, each 25 euro. it started with huge aperitif drinks, about 150-200cl, a grapefruit/Kirsch a cassis and white wine. the main course was goujons of carp, of fish farm near, thin frits, and a huge bowl salate. the plate when fish and chips were as big as the plate on which I wear Christmas statues! After my colleague and I, both great chaps, had eaten all sincerely, they offered the same again as free second help, but we could not if we wanted to eat any dessert. we chose apple cake with whipped cream, again huge portions and made fresh. we had some coffee. including a 4 large glass pitcher good weins was the bill (mai 2014) 61 euro for both of us. the owner gave me a postcard with a stamp free to post to my wife! madam pantez recently took over the hotel and restaurant. the waiters speak only French and German, but madame pantez only admitted to speak English at the end of the meal. her English is perfect! the menu was written in French and English. we both want to return with our wives for a weekend and will certainly also return from ourselves. about 1 hour from Basel/St. louis, 1h 30 from bessancon citadel.

We chose probably the most expensive set meal, 25 euros each. It started with huge aperitif drinks, about 150-200cl, one grapefruit/kirsch one cassis and white wine. The main course was goujons of carp, from fish farm close by, thin french fries, and a huge bowl of salad. The platter if fish and chips was as big as the plate I carve the Christmas turkey on! After my colleague and I, both big chaps, had valiantly eaten all this they offered the same again as free "second helpings" but we couldn't if we wanted to eat any dessert. We chose apple tart with whipped cream, again huge portions and freshly made. We valiantly had coffee.
