Hana Tsubaki - Sacramento

For 35 years, we have been savoring the Japanese cuisine of James and his family. Their karaage chicken is simply the best in Sacramento!

I've been a customer for three years, and overall, I still consider this place one of the top three sushi restaurants in the Sacramento area. However, I've noticed a decline in food quality over time. For instance, the Poke Salad has been shrinking in portion size, and most importantly, the fish isn't as fresh as it used to be. It seems to vary depending on the day of the week; I’ve experienced fresh fish in the past, but my last three or four visits were disappointing. I genuinely hope the restaurant can improve, so I'm writing this review in hopes that the owner will take notice. I look forward to visiting again and enjoying a better dining experience.

My ex-wife works at this restaurant, and I visited it just once. I don’t typically eat food, but during my visit, I noticed that it was crowded, cozy, and had a beautiful, romantic atmosphere, especially given the limited parking. The food was quite good—I can’t recall the name of the dish, but I would go out of my way to pay for the $20 salmon they serve. The place was also clean, and the security guard at the entrance was friendly. Overall, I had a pleasant experience.

A bit on the expensive side but extremely good food. The daily specials are where you get the best bang for your buck, and they never dissapoint. Very nice staff and generally very fast service. The restaurant is quaint and modeled after traditional japanese interiors and is extremely nice..
