Excellent food service, highly recommended. Only issue is lack of parking
We recently took friends for afternoon tea as a ‘thank you’. Whilst the service was excellent, the ambiance was average (because Covid restrictions meant fewer guests) and, surprisingly, the food was basic and lacked imagination. The ingredients were fresh, but nothing special. The fancies on the top tier were very basic. The scones were small, although there was plenty cream jam. Disappointing overall.
The restaurant was very quiet during our afternoon tea, as we were the only guests on a Monday afternoon. We were allowed to bring our elderly dogs to sit with us, which helped us relax, despite their snoring. One small issue we encountered was the lack of a live voice when calling to make a reservation - we had to either book online or leave a message for a callback. Unfortunately, our request to not have cucumber sandwiches was not noted by reception. However, these minor issues did not detract from the attentive service of our waitress. The sandwiches and lemon posset were particularly delicious. Chateau La Chaire provided a peaceful escape from the chaos of Coronavirus, Donald Trump, and storms, with serene interior design to match the tranquility of the venue.
I highly recommend the set menu for Sunday lunch at this restaurant. The food is of top quality and beautifully presented in a lovely environment. It is great value for the price.
