Had a big walk around the forests today, I really loved the carvings and lots of mushrooms that we have seen, at the end we put in the caffe for a bacon sandwich and a coffee, not sweat a bit here or exaggerated in some way, when I say I had only the most beautiful bacon sandwich I had ever had (that I did not make myself) the easy to use
A true gem of a place! The cafe offers delicious food at reasonable prices, and there are fun, free trails for kids to explore, encouraging them to engage with nature by spotting leaves, insects, and animal tracks. It’s a fantastic way to experience parts of the Derwent Walk.
Very friendly visitor centre with good selection of food. Seats outside, dogs welcome. Limited parking. We probably only did a quarter of the walks on offer from this point. We did the river walk and sculpture trail for about 3 hours, good places along the river for children to get down and plodge. Other walks are signposted so we will definitely return.
Great place to go waking, lots of trails to pick from , sculpture trail is good , short with lots of carved sculptures to look out for , cafe does great bacon butties and hot chocolate, other snacks and drinks available.
