Koekela - Rotterdam

I tried the vegan apple crumb at this restaurant, and while it was decent, it was not outstanding. It was also the only non-frozen vegan option available during my visit. I went 40 minutes before closing time, so perhaps those who go in the morning will find more vegan choices.

The restaurant now offers more menu options, but I would appreciate seeing vegan versions of their famous dishes.

I have been a regular customer of this American bakery in Rotterdam for years. The cakes, pies, and bars are top-notch, with the cherry cheesecake being my personal favorite. However, I was slightly disappointed to find out recently that they no longer offer savory scones. In fact, the menu now only features sweet items, with the exception of a croissant. This bakery is a wonderful spot for coffee and dessert, but if you are seeking a light savory lunch, you may want to explore other options.

Oh my goodness! The natural cheesecake at this restaurant was amazing! The moment I took a bite, it felt like I was transported to cheesecake heaven. I now want to declare May 1st as National Koekela Cheesecake Day, where people can gather in front of the store to enjoy a slice of their delicious cheesecake. To the naysayers giving one-star reviews, maybe it's time to get your taste buds checked because the cheesecake here is truly top-notch!

Koekela is a hidden gem of a place! The experience of enjoying their incredibly delicious cakes is truly surreal. Despite the small size of the café, it has a very welcoming atmosphere. The service is excellent as well. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but make sure to try the carrot cake - it's a must. I've never tasted a carrot cake as amazing as theirs. Plus, it's affordable! This place is definitely worth a visit if you're in the Netherlands. Keep up the good work with your service and food, Koekela!
