House of Chan - Rothesay

This is my go to for Chinese Food in the KV Valley- healthy, tasty options other than fried food - reasonable range in prices Quick and always hot and tasty when we get takeout

I'm from the West Coast and didn't have huge expectations, but it was more Canadian Chinese than authentic Chinese food. All of the standards without any surprises.

We have ordered from the House of Chan on a number of occasions since it has open and was pleased with the food. Not so today. Firstly on my order slip was a charge for the containers, not much but still. I question the staff and was informed (with not much enthusiasm) that the containers were "good" containers. Okay so that is great but what am I supposed to do with them other than put them in the garbage as they are not even recyclable. Cardboard would have been better.We ordered Combos #1 and #3, What a bad decision, the egg rolls were spongy, tough and cold along with a soar taste. The Chicken fried rice (paid extra) was tasteless along with everything else in our order, Dry Garlic Spare Ribs, Chicken Chow Mein and Sweet and Sour Chicken. No taste other than a sour vinegar taste. And all was stone cold.I am not sure what happened to the quality, but my first warning sign should have been the extra charge for the containers.To the owners... come on, if business is so bad that you have to cut quality and charge for containers, then close the doors.

Excellent service, friendly staff, great food and good value. We orderered to go however eating in is also a choice with a few tables available.

The family deal is very good value for the amount you get in each portion but the food is average quality the egg rolls are NASTY. Their noodles are amazing and this is the first time i have ever seen this but they bill you yes i said bill you for the takeout containers separately and are not part of the cost on there take out meals you pay for each container which i have never seen in my life usually all container price is included with a takeout meal
