We haven't been here for a while but the food was even better then we remembered. This is a really unique place, the owner seems very nice and the staff are friendly. We ate the Pett leveller, lots of flavour, really good, and the coffee was great too. Those of you worried about covid, they were really on it with cleaning the tables and you're outside so no problems. We'll be back.
It had been pouring with rain. The beach was empty bar a few perverse stragglers and we were hungry and exasperated after a two and half hour drive in dreadful weather. And then we came across The Red Pig, a brilliant eccentric gem. The exterior seating (bench tables) was drenched and the COVID 19 rules made a normal eating experience awkward but the menu changed our mood entirely. A mixture of to die for sausage in a roll (generous portions and super tasty), haloumi and other delicious options made a return visit at some stage in our lives essential if we are ever near Hastings again. Make the detour. The beach is amazing but the Red Pig is unique. And their coffee the best cafe coffee we have ever tasted and that is saying something.
This quirky and individual establishment always delivers. We always plan our walks in this area to finish at the Red Pig, although the menu is limited it will always satisfy after having been buffeted by the coastal winds. Delightful home cooked food and a warm welcome are guaranteed!
Visited for the first time on Saturday. Met Andy the owner, and had a delicious Pett leveller roll and Boston bean stew with Halloumi. What a great place. A unique and quirky find , we will definitely be back
