Despite being in Chinatown, our expectations were low, but we were pleasantly surprised by both the delicious food and excellent service. We ordered seabass cooked Chinese style, crab, mapo tofu, and rice. This was my first time trying mapo tofu, and it did not disappoint. The tofu was soft and the sauce was well-flavored. The sight of the fish with its head still attached was a bit unsettling, but the meat was delicious. The crab was especially amazing, with a sweet and sour sauce with a hint of chili that paired perfectly with the rice. I would definitely recommend trying the crab and rice together. Overall, a great dining experience at HK Diner.
This restaurant is a fantastic spot to meet up after a night out in Leicester Square. It stays open until 4 or 5am and their crunchy noodles are absolutely delicious. You might have to wait for a table, but it's definitely worth it. The duck with pancakes is also amazing, I've never had any complaints.
The hong kong style military is terrible, the tee is not strong enough, and it tasted like water with milk and sugar. please do not order hong kong stylized militia here, they will regret, the bark brisket nudel is better than another cha chan tan wong kee, the bark brisket is soft and tender, but a little salty, and the nudel is cheerier than wong kee’s (but both rinderbrisket and nudel can be even better) the
Good, not great. ORDER: BBQ Roast Duck Cantonese Style (portion size, pictured), Chicken Kung Po, Hot Sour Soup, Steamed Rice, Hot Lemon Tea. ROAST DUCK: Very good, but extremely annoying to eat. Lots of bones and/or cartilage that was annoying to eat around. Worth getting to say you've had roast duck, but the annoyance of eating it would ensure I didn't ever get it again from HK. CHICKEN KUNG PO: I enjoyed it but my wife (who ordered it) was not a huge fan. She also thought the hot sour soup was a bit too thick/stewlike. RICE: Was rice. LEMON TEA: Black tea base with three sliced lemons and perhaps some lemon infusion. Very good. OTHER: They tried to overcharge us by £20. May...read more
Excellent meal. When we arrived, there was a line, but it moves fairly quickly. We ordered the hot sour soup and a wonton soup both excellent. The crispy duck looked so good as we waited in line, that we had to order it. And it did not disappoint. Overall a delicious meal which I am still dreaming about, 2 weeks after we ate it. We can't find this authentic Chinese/Cantonese in New Orleans!
