Diller Schneeballentraume Cafe

They have a lot of different varieties of this regional dessert, but I found it to be a rather dry, crumbly, semi-sweet bread-like cookie. I would suggest that four people could easily share one and be amply satisfied.

It caught my eye so I went in. I stooped at the counter while the staff talked to each other and was not acknowledged. It was easy enough to get me schneeballen fix across the street.

We visited the Diller Café to eat Schneeball, which is the traditional taste of Rothenburg. There were various types of Schneeballs. We tried two different types and one Bretzel. They were good.

This "snowball" is a local specialty so a must try. It's a deep fried pastry ball and comes in many flavors. We had the marzipan stuffed one but damned if there was any tasteable marzipan in it. It is awfully sweet and one is enough for two people.
