My girlfriends suggested brunch at Pastis and taking a stroll around Roswell followed by massages for a Girls ' Day Out one Sunday, and here we are! We 're also joined by a nearly packed bar and outdoor area at Pastis as apparently this bottomless Mimosa brunch is a very popular idea. We arrived at the restaurant shortly before 12:30, and there were quite some tables empty so the hostess allowed us to pick our table. We picked a semi outdoor table just inside the restaurant but were still able to enjoy the warm weather. Our server was very nice and attentive, patiently allowing us to wait to order our Mimosas, then waiting patiently as we decided on a few dishes to share, and then again wait on us as we finished more Mimosas. Between the three of us, we shared a light brunch of the following: Belgium Waffle Plate: Belgium Waffles/Honey Butter/Fresh Strawberries/Warm Maple syrup/Crispy Applewood Bacon Zucchini Pasta : Fresh Mix of Zucchini and Yellow Squash Cut on a Mandolin into Noddle like Strips, Cherry Tomatoes, Basil Leaves, Candied Walnuts, Goat Cheese, Dried Cranberries, Herb Vinaigrette, and Pistou Mussels Pastis, Add Homemade Fries: PEI Mussels/White Wine/Garlic/Fine Herbs/ Touch of Cream/Tomatoes Watermellon Caprese: Local Watermellon/Valbresso Feta/Mellon Reduction/Mint Infusion/Balsamic Reduction/ Everything was very good!! The table favorite was the Mussels. If you order this, definitely get the side of fries and maybe even more of their complimentary baguette as the cream sauce is really that delicious. Even without the sauce though, the fries are pretty damn good. I really enjoyed the waffle and the zucchini pasta, which was the server 's recommendation, was fantastic as well. When I looked at the menu before coming here, I struggled to find something to order that I would like, how incredible that I ended up liking everything we ordered here! I am so glad we chose this place for our GDO. Perfect place for brunch and relaxing on a beautiful Sunday!
Disappointing compared to a prior visit. In the spring we'd tried it for a Sunday brunch, so when we had out-of-state visitors it seemed like a good choice to treat them to. The service destroyed the experience and was an embarrassment. We waited an extraordinary long time to place our orders, and even the initial pass to get drink orders was delayed. Nor did they serve the bread until much later after the tardy drinks arrived. Needless to say, the food took an equally long time to arrive. Normally I'd chalk that up to preparation but based on the excruciatingly slow dribble of service, I don't think the kitchen was the bottleneck. I ordered the Croque Madame and my wife had the Quiche Lorraine while our guests had French Toast Plate and the other had scrambled eggs with bacon. The latter came out under-cooked and he asked if they could crisp it. The rashers disappeared back to the kitchen and didn't return until all four of our meals were finished. My meal arrived tepid and was stone cold within minutes of arriving. Refills, when we could get a waiter's attention took forever. In fact, when I requested a tea refill, my glass disappeared to the kitchen and never returned until AFTER the check was delivered.
It was frequent lunch companion Linda's birthday. We were going to try a trendy chef inspired eatery on Holcomb Bridge but I remembered something about Tuesdays at Pastis. It's bottomless wine day! $9 per person, for all you care to drink. So, that's where we went! Y'know, this is a good place, particularly for lunch. You can dine al fresco. You can dine semi al fresco in the covered front room. Or if you prefer air conditioning you can sit in the main dining room. Which is what we did. You can't beat their $8 salmon sandwich. Served on a baguette, it's very good, and comes with a choice of sides. I always get a field green salad, with lemon vinaigrette dressing (which may be the only dressing they have. After three glasses of cabernet hiccup! Linda and I moseyed out to shop in the cute boutiques on the strip. A really good lunch, more wine than we needed, very pleasant staff and a tab that was quite affordable.
We generally like Pastis and enjoy time at the bar. This particular night we got the seafood platter with tuna, salmon and trout. It was close to inedible. Everything outside the oysters were incredibly dry. The salmon was sliced incredibly thin and laid directly on the ice which turned it into cardboard. The clams were so dry and tasteless we only ate 1 each. We would not recommend this dish.
I came here for an office party, and we had the front room near the bar. The space was fantastic for our group of 35. I loved that the windows facing Canton Street allowed the holiday lights to come in for a very festive glow. They had a beer and wine bar set up in our private space, which was super efficient, and the servers were very friendly. On to the food...We had a limited three course menu: choice of salad, entree, and dessert. The salad was good, but nothing spectacular. For the entree, I chose the salmon with orzo . The fish was cooked perfectly, but I was let down by everything else on the plate. The orzo was not seasoned at all, and it looked like a orzo pancake because the little pieces of dry pasta were stuck together. The salmon was topped with fresh tomatoes, Kalamata olives, chopped cucumbers, and goat cheese. This would have made a great salad, but it didn't make for the best accompaniment. Although the entree wasn't terrible, I can make a better dinner at home. Dessert was a complete failure. The creme brûlée had the texture of a watery pudding. Needless to say, no one ate more than two bites of their dessert. The atmosphere at Pastis turns from quiet restaurant to bustling bar and dance club around 10. Our group enjoyed the live music, and after several glasses of wine, dancing commenced. You know you're at a good office party when your boss starts a Soul Train line... Overall, I would not come here for the food, but if you're looking for a lively (slightly older) crowd, go to Pastis have a good ole time!
