The Crepes are really to 'die for' a crepe with caramelized apple and a scoop of ice cream with a caramel topping, so delicious.Friendly and efficient service. Really a must visit place Only open at lunch-time and you really need to get there by 2 o'clock
We arrived on a bank holiday weekend and managed to get the very last table. Lovely service...looked after our two dogs with water. Great salad with duck, goat´s cheese and walnuts but the frites du carp were simply magnificent. Plenty to tempt your taste buds. Crepes for pudding were absolutely delicious........!!! We must go back there, and SOOOOOON! Great base for a bike ride or walk to but I recommend these activities BEFORE the meal. Best to book at the weekends of get there at 12.
We never miss a visit to the Cheval Blanc when we are in the Charente.
Definitely not to miss out on if you are in the area - best pancakes EVER! I like the Maine Normandy with Apples and Calvados! The information centre has been well developed and worth a visit.
This place was recommended by a French cafe owner whom we met. She said it was her favourite place to eat. When we arrived there we saw it was packed with diners, all but us and one other couple being French, a good sign.We sat outside under a trellis with a pleasant view over a lake. The food was all local except one dish A la Normande, which seemed allowable. I had smoked carp which I had never had before. I expected it to be bony and a bit tasteless but it was delicious. My partner had local lamb. The puddings were superb and, as usual in France, nicely sharp, not sickly. It was not expensive for what we had , but good value for money, unusual and delicious. There's an attached shop that was very good too, full of local artisan products including jams, honey, preserves and chutney, besides artwork and knitted goods. This is not on the usual tourist trail but worth going quite a long way to try.
