The wine list is superb, done by a sommelier and presented by her too! Piedmont is one of top ranking (if not the top ranking) region for wine. Babette 's House (so translates into English) have a choice of Piedmont wines that you would try to get one after other in a raw... the problem being now who 's driving you back to hotel... Meals are lovely too, prepared with grande gusto . I chose the local carne battuta , minced raw meat from a special cow breed, very very tender. Not to be compared with the usual raw meat with the egg on top. It 's a feast for the mouth, and the tenderness is really unique. Following appetizer was vitello tonnato . Perfect. To taste well recipe should blend meat and tuna sauce together, as a duo in concert. Result was excellent. Bravo! Piedmont is the homeland of rice in Italy, alongside motorway you can spot so many rice field, but we 're not in Asia. I fancied a risotto al Barbera con salsiccia that is rice cooked with Barbera wine and sausage. Again each and every ingredient got perfectly assembled, without sausage taste taking the leadership, on the contrary. You could still recognize all subtle flavours of Barbera. What to add more? Nothing, I did not touch dessert as was delighted with risotto and appetizers. Lovely cozy place, interior very well arranged, several rooms to dine. A secret gem when travelling to Piedmont, not to be missed. Thanks a lot, Grazie mille!
Tucked away down a quiet road in Rosignano Monferrato this is a gem of a restaurant. The ambience is cosy country house. The menu is short, seasonal and locally sourced, this is a good thing. There is an extensive wine list full of gems produced in the surrounding vineyards and beyond. Another brilliant thing about this restaurant is the list of reasonably priced Champagnes, sourced by the owner, from small unknown French producers. We loved each of the six dishes we ordered and will be back for sure. Everything about this place has been been done with care. Easily 5 stars !!
Babette it is a charming restuarant with a couples of rooms in a wonderful location between wineyards. We had a wonderful lunch at Ferragosto sitting outside in the garden. The food was excellent, piedmontese cuisine but with an innovative touch. Here it is well know for champagne and indeed we had a wonderful bottle from a small producer and then an excellent Grignolino Superiore (local wine of this part of Monferrato). The owner is kind and friendly, good service so if you are closed to Casal Monferrato I really this charming restaurant.
Lunch with friends, chosen casually looking at reviews. we found ourselves very well, nice environment with spacious rooms, tables and cozy and well-kept furniture. Close menu but very interesting, excellent tunaed calf and tartare, good agnolotti, good risotto. excellent choice of wines at honest prices, attentive and friendly service, I would gladly return.
We booked in this restaurant after reading online reviews. was a pleasant discovery, very kind staff, all good food and cozy location. only defect that even if in truffle period there were not available.
