I highly recommend this place for any type of meal, whether it's a cozy dinner for two, a gathering with friends, or a big family reunion. They cater to everyone! Kudos to Sinead and the entire staff for a job well done.
This restaurant falls far short of being a palace. Without beating around the bush, this was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I've had in years. The supposed Thai fish cakes were a disappointment, resembling frozen spam in oily, unappetizing slices. The main course was slightly better, but still lacked quality and flavor, tasting like cheap takeout food full of MSG. I wouldn't dine here again even if it were free, let alone for the €26 it cost me. This is an overpriced establishment in a small town in the west of Ireland. I'm baffled by the positive ratings, as this was easily the worst Chinese meal I've had in Ireland.
Have dined here on several occasions with family and friends Food is always good Staff are polite and friendly Restaurant is always clean
Customer service is what you are trained to do, a customer experience is going above and beyond this and best way for me to describe my recent visits to the China Palace in Roscommon town. We were in Roscommon town for a 2 night stay and were joined by friends for the first night so I booked a table for 7 adults on the Saturday night. The China Palace is a welcoming space on the first floor with toilets (spotlessly clean) on the 2nd floor and there is a lift for those with accessibility issues. The 7 of us were promptly seated and handed our menus to peruse. The menu has all the usual Chinese dishes you would expect and some Thai options as well. We ordered 2 sharing platters between us for starters. Mouth melting BBQ ribs, chicken wings, spring rolls were some of the options delivered and it was a great start to our meal. Several different main courses were all served together and each one was piping hot and absolutely delicious. I had the beef curry, extra hot (no peas please) which came with a plate of boiled rice and was up there with the best Chinese currys I 've ever had. This sentiment was echoed by all of my dining companions. Each of the seven dishes ordered which also included filet beef in black bean sauce, a hot and spicy house special and a house special szechaun were bursting with fresh ingredients and flavour. Throw in 3 bottles of Argentinian red and we had a fantastic meal which was really tasty and excellent value. On our second visit there was just the two of us and we were not disappointed. On a cold wet Sunday night in Roscommon town we were on our own in the Restaurant for a while but this only added to our experience. We were welcomed like old friends and the waitress even remembered my no peas please for our order of a house special curry extra hot and a house special in oyster sauce. Both were mouth wateringly delicious as was the plate of BBQ ribs we had to share as a starter. They were as delicious as we remembered from the night before. A bottle of Pinot Grigio was the perfect wine to accompany the spicy dishes. On both nights the service was excellent and unobtrusive but the our second visit was when the customer service became the customer experience. Yes I know they weren 't busy but it was still above and beyond the call of duty when we asked could they order a taxi for us that the owner insisted on giving us a lift back to our hotel. During the short drive she told us they were 24 years in Roscommon town and I for one hope they are there for another 24 because our lift to the hotel aside the food and service in this restaurant is excellent and we are looking forward to a return visit next time we 're in the area.
Visited here last week with a friend who has eaten here before, as it was midweek I knew it would be quite and it was.... The restaurant is located on the first floor ,however for those that have restricted mobility there is a lift, I had on recommendation from my friend to have the chicken sticks with garlic butter to start .... The description isn 't great and that 's why I wasn 't expecting much ....but the dish was beautiful, I would have described it as deep fried chicken strips with a garlic sauce, my 2nd course was duck and it was lovely , the deserts are all with the exception of the banal fritters) bought in , but I don 't really ever expect home made deserts in any Asian restaurant. As detailed earlier it was very quite but it was midweek , the bathrooms were among the cleanest I 'd come across in any restaurant. It 's not super-cheap price wise , but it was very enjoyable.
