As we said, the reception is professional and sober, never obsessive. dishes are delicate, really perfect for a menu decorated with a room. Perhaps the choice of the first wine (local white) could be examined. the hotel's master kindly proposed to change my wife's entrance for an allergy reason. the breakfast of products at home was simple but perfectly served. We will return with joy to the great hotel of the Golden Lion.
The hotel: we took a standard room (specially spacious have been equipped) which is of high quality; Bear gave on the main street, but there was no noise! reception: quality too, nothing to say. the restaurant: our meal where, you must say honesty, everything was good, left us an unfinished taste! How to say? Even if the products are impeccable, we have never felt this exceptional little qqch that should characterize a star; next to the dishes, you are served with lots of small accompaniments, some very good, others without interest. The babylonian pigeon, the chef's signature dish, was by far the most disappointing: almost nothing to eat, with a very digestive skin. the m is well without being to breathe, the hot foie gras (not very well denerved!)moyen, the back of a very good pike, two desserts including a remarkable: the little blown with pears. quality wine. prices are up to a star, there is no obvious abuse. Finally if there is one: to charge 26 euros a champagne cocktail has no justification! has an account, how much would it be to pay in 3 stars, 78 euros? No, it's too much! breakfast: not to the height. Although the dishes are splendid, the service is limited; You are served with a set of Viennese (fresh and good) in a kind of large sulphurized paper, it’s ridiculous! the fruit juice portion is spartate. 30 euros. but if you want eggs, more fruit juice, ham etc you have to pay in addition. other establishments, certainly less renamed and not hungry, would nevertheless serve you a pdj otherwise more copied. a small remark: it's rather small to make his guests pay for a place inside (15 euros! So, overall, we are happy that we are here, but we are a little disappointed, we expected better, the memory will not be imperious. 750 euros for all service: the value for money is not there!
We stayed in the hotel and reserved a table in the restaurant. Its expensive but fabulous each course was prepared to perfection and the wine we had to accompany everything was perfect. Excellent service discreet but always there to top off glasses and make everything perfect. Fantastic restaurant!
We checked into the Grand Hotel du Lyon d'Or and made a reservation for the restaurant our first night. We went into it with some trepidation, what with mixed reviews on Trip Advisor. The first misimpression was about the wine list, due to a report that the cheapest bottle was 80 Euro. In fact, we had a wonderful bottle of the local Romorantin for 45 Euro, and there were many similarly priced bottles. My wife started with foie gras and I had grilled sardines. Both were cooked very rare and were exquisite. The foie gras wasn't the least bit fatty tasting, and the sardines were like a faintly grilled sashimi. Both appetizers were the epitome of freshness, delicacy and flavor, accompanied by wonderful sauces and embellishments. We moved on to cod with subtle Indian spices and rabbit done FOUR ways. Again, both dishes were delicious and generous in size. Side dishes included surprises such as crab with cabbage for the cod, and fried fennel bulb with the rabbit. I didn't order dessert, but couldn't resist the mind-boggling cheese selection. My wife's puff pastry with green gage plums and pistachio ice cream was another triumph of lightness and intense flavor. Not that skipping dessert did any good, what with the complimentary verbena sorbet, huge plate of petit fours and bowl of marcona almonds. When I asked whether they had a list of eaux de vie, the waiter said he hoped I would find something to my liking; The list was FOUR pages long, making for a most difficult decision. So far, this was our best meal on this trip to France by a long shot. If this place doesn't have a Michelin star, it deserves one. Having experienced a number of other Michelin-starred restaurants throughout Europe, we feel the Grand Hotel restaurant was on the same level, as well as fairly priced.
J'ai eu la chance d'être invité deux fois par ma direction dans ce restaurant. Le petit jardin extérieur est très agréable. Repas gastronomique dans l'assiette. Personnel très agréable. L'intérieur du restaurant fait un peu plus ancien.
