La Tortuga Feliz - Romeoville

Quality and authentic Mexican food with great service.

We ordered to go a few days ago from La Tortuga Feliz. It was our first experience, and we will definitely be back! The cashier was extremely friendly and helpful as we tried to decide what to order. My husband got horchata and said it was delicious. We ordered a variety of foods. It took awhile for them to make everything but it was worth the wait. While we waited, it was slow enough for the cashier to chat with us about the restaurant and its origins (her family re-created her grandparents' restaurant they own in Mexico! . The food was delicious and obviously homemade. I had a chicken gordita, and I will definitely get it again! Hubs had a steak burrito, very flavorful. Our sons had chicken tacos (American style and a chorizo burrito, also very good. We also ordered tamales, which were good, though I'm in search of tamales made the way my MIL used to make them. The guac was fresh and yummy, and the rice was the best rice I've ever had from a Mexican restaurant--flavorful and delicious.

Good food, and very good service. the only thing is that home made quesadillas only come with meat and cheese. what is contradictory because they serve them on the menu with lettuce, tomato and onion. when I asked why just meat and cheese they told me that it was because I had to tell them that I wanted vegetables

This is my first time I have been to this restaurant. The staff is really nice, they give you extra salsa, limes, and carrots (I recommend getting carrots). I ordered 4 tacos de Lengua (beef tongue), 4 steak tacos, a side of rice, side of beans and Horchatas. I am really picky when it comes to tongue tacos, and honestly I loved them. I have gone to restaurants that their tongue tacos are not good, but this place they are delicious. So I highly recommend them! My girlfriend got the steak tacos and she loved them. She highly recommends them as well. The rice and beans taste good as well. This is my new favorite place to go for Mexican food. I highly recommend this place.

I really want to enjoy this restaurant, but the food quality leaves a lot to be desired. The enchiladas were tough, and the beans were served cold. While the presentation of the plate was appealing, the rice lacked flavor. Overall, I was disappointed. Unfortunately, there aren't any good Mexican restaurants in Romeoville.
