The holiest space in italy, piazza san pietro is a must visit place in rom, no matter which religion they are. it is a magical place that is created for the given.
After our tour group visited the Vatican, we went to this nearby restaurant for lunch. It was cafeteria service. I grabbed a tray and lined up for food. The line moved quickly. I had a bowl of zuppa and a plate of spaghetti with two meatballs for 24 euros. Utensils were plastic. Food was tasty and filling. The restaurant was right next to the Vatican Souvenir store.
Visted a couple of weeks ago and place is awful ..was charged 3 euros to sit outside which came up on our bill as a surcharge..cold chips dreadful sandwiches and dirty table. Toilets were dirty didn't even use them went elsewhere for a drink and used their toilets which were spotless and place was just as busy so no excuse not have clean facilities.
We were on a tour and had only 45 minutes to get lunch. You can do self service or table service here. Prices are the same either way. Fast service with good pastas and desserts. Wine was so-so. We did table service and had a good waiter who was proficient in English. I wouldn’t go out of my way to find it, but if you’re close to Vatican and needs a spot, this is it. Also, good gelato sold on the street outside the restaurant.
