I 've been debating whether or not to write this review as I don 't want to be rude, but as it still bothers me I 'm just going to go ahead with it. My little sister and I visited this place last fall and at first we thought this would be a nice place with a sweet waiter. Oh boy were we wrong. We were escorted to a separate dining room on the left with a few other people. Food was ok I guess, but authentic Italian it was certainly not. When we asked for the check, our waiter asked us to write a review to tripadvisor as the place was new etc etc. I tried to brush him off by telling him I would later, but he joked that he wouldn 't let us go before we wrote the review. Once he brought us our receipt he asked if I 'd wrote the review yet and I said no, he took my phone, went to tripadvisor and started typing the review. He again let us know that he wouldn 't let us leave (laughing again) until we published the review. I deleted it once we got back to the hotel immediately. The whole scenario made me really uncomfortable. I started googling this restaurant and read previous reviews saying that the restaurant changed its name constantly and many others were forced to write reviews. I don 't think that 's good business and therefore definitely don 't recommend this place.
We stopped here for a quick bite and had a positive experience. The three octopus appetizer was amazing and the salmon appetizer was also good. Service was reasonable. Overall, we recommend this restaurant.
We were highjacked by a very convincing young man while we were walking by this place on our way to another restaurant. He said that they had “Real Italians working in the kitchen. Not like most of the other restaurants that have Bangladeshis working back there.” I had the veal saltimbocca that was tasteless and my wife had lasagna that was a jumble of pasta that was also bland. My son had the cacio de pepe and was less than happy. They never came by to ask us how our meal was while we were eating. I guess they knew. As we were walking out the front door, Mr. Highjacker asked us how our meal was and didn’t seemed surprised or concerned. At least it was expensive. Do not fall prey to the dude up front!
I came here on the penultimate day of our holiday to Rome. We had dined in a number of Italian restaurants during our week's stay and we were looking for somewhere else on the last night (we like sampling lots of different restaurants). We stumbled across this place, which looked relatively small, albeit very inviting on the outside. As insinuated by the title of this review, I ordered the lasagne, which was absolutely delicious! I have eaten lasagne many times, but this has to be the best lasagne I have ever eaten. It was full of flavour and clearly, the chef had seasoned the dish expertly. It was also beautifully presented and very appetising. Presentation is important to me because let's be honest, we all eat with our eyes! The service was also really good. The waiting on staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. One thing which I did find bizarre is we were served different things by multiple waiters, for example our drinks order was taken by one waiter, then a different waiter, afterwards, came bounding over to take our food order. It didn't bother us too much, as all staff were friendly and polite, however it might be worth bearing in mind that for a more personal experience, one waiter per table is all you need. The restaurant itself was also nicely presented and clean. We sat outside, but the interior of the restaurant is very tastefully decorated and feels upscale. The toilets were also nice and clean, although going down the staircase to find the toilets felt like you were descending into the Mariana Trench! I would have given this restaurant a 5* review, if it weren't for one thing. Whilst the restaurant was reasonably priced, it wasn't exactly cheap to order four meals, which is as to be expected when you dine out. We paid in case and gave the staff more money than necessary to constitute the bill, expecting to give us change. However, the staff automatically assumed we were giving them a tip and we had to argue our case to get our change, which I thought was a bit deceitful and unfortunately, this soured our experience a little. I think this might be a cultural thing in Italy, restaurants assume that guests will give them tips. However, it isn't exactly professional or pro customer to start making assumptions like this. You may want to bear this in mind when deciding how to pay at this restaurant. Overall, the quality of food served here means that I would recommend Passetto Ristorante Pizzeria as a restaurant to visit if passing.
