We called ahead so our pizza was nearly ready once we arrived. Our favorite is the Veneto, with plenty of Italian sausage, meatballs, and pepperoni. I really like their crust at Mangia. It's not so thin you can hardly hang to your slice, but just thin enough to bring out the toppings without chewing through a mouthful of bread. By ordering ahead we were in and out in less than hour and also enjoyed a couple of drinks. Service was very good. A perfect pizza for a perfect night.
My husband I just ate here for the first time tonight, and we were very satisfied and happy with this restaurant! The food was DELICIOUS! I had the Rigatoni E (not the Chicken Marsala like I said with the picture) the Shrimp Scampi. Our server, Andrew, was very prompt, courteous, and attentive to our needs. The atmosphere of the building is urban-rustic. It was clean inviting. We had a very enjoyable time, and we WILL be coming back!
Go for the Tuesday Manicotti special, stay for the chicken Parm. If we are going out to a nicer restaurant, this is where I want to go. The chicken parmesan is fantastic. Great place for a nice date. Baked spaghetti is pretty great too!
Went to lunch Sunday about 1pm. Have not been inside this building since it was Mi Ranchito Mexican restaurant years ago. The interior has been nicely changed to a very comfortable bar and dinning area. We had a very nice waitress who was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the Sunday special which is a smaller portion of spaghetti with one large meatball for only $3.50. We also ordered a pizza with cheese and fresh basil. 15 minutes after our order was placed we found out from the waitress they had run out of fresh basil. Instead they offered dried basil as an alternative. The pizza then came out way to quick and a less than hot. Making us suspect it was already started before we found out about the basil, but that's just a feeling. The spaghetti was good and the total bill very reasonable. Our biggest concern was if they just opened and had no fresh basil how many other recipes suffered without it. If it was my restaurant I would have sent someone across the street to Hardings to buy some. Maybe they don't use fresh herbs? I guess we expected more from an Italian restaurant that has two locations. After my review I did hear from the owner about the basil and I am always impressed with owners who take the time to reply. Thank you for the explanation about the fresh basil.
With living in Charlotte NC and having endless options of amazing cuisine I've not eaten at too many Italian restaurants as of late. Mangia is the textbook definition of A OK. The food was good but not knock your socks off good. I had the chicken Marsala which was good no question but I've had better. The chicken was tender and had a light breading on one side. It was served with a side of spaghetti marinara and vegetables. The sides were alright but nothing to write home about. The staff was courteous and attentive, providing a high level of service. Our waiter did a nice job engaging us in conversation and taking care of us. For the area I think Mangia may be slightly above par but not enough so to warrant 4 stars. You won't leave feeling as though you've wasted your money but you'll also likely forget about it the next day.
