Run by a small team this is not the place if you are in a rush, but if you want quality food and very reasonable prices this is the place to go. We dined as a group of 8 and everyone had a wonderful time. The restaurant was clean and elegantly decorated. The selection of wine was limited, but it wasn’t a problem as everything we tried was outstanding and modestly priced. The food was authentic Roman cuisine using seasonal produce. Simple, fresh and delicious. The host was so friendly and accommodating it was more like a dinner party than a meal out. I will definitely return when I’m next in Rome. I recommend the Cherry pie when available.
9 days dining out in Rome and THIS is our #1 pick! The quality flavors were like nothing we ate anywhere else. Every bite was a burst of unique spices and textures, from soups to pastas to fish to wine! It was all 5-star, including Kevin the waiter who managed the room full of customers as if everyone deserved his full attention. We will return before we leave the city!
We were staying at the Hotel Mellini which is in the same street as this restaurant (Via Muzio Clementi on the left bank of the Tiber-about 20 minutes walk from the much more touristy centre of Rome . After our first day in the city, which was spent walking around the Colisseum and other such classical sites of interest, we returned to our hotel to shower before setting out again to eat at this restaurant. We had already seen the menu outside and it looked very inviting. It is quiet family-run restaurant with only a small number of tables. These are predominantly occupied by Romans themselves rather than by the seemingly ubiquitous numbers of foreign tourists who flock to the city all year round. The owner is a charming Italian lady who clearly relies on the support of family members to help her run her business. Always a good sign: a small, family-run restaurant frequented by local residents who live nearby rather than by foreign visitors. Given its proxinity to our hotel we ended up eating here more than once during our five night stay in Rome and hence were able to sample a entire array of scrumptious dishes. The scaloppine di pollo al limone and the filleto di manzo which I had were both expertly cooked, flavoursome and well-presented. Similarly the mixed fish grill and the spigola (sea bass which my wife had were both according to her enjoyable in the extreme. The contorni (side dishes of grilled courgette, aubergine and potato which on two separate occasions accompanied our mains of meat and fish also made for a great meal each time. Added to that they only charge 6 euros for a large bottle of Peroni (Italian lager and 12 euros for a bottle of house red wine. Unbeatable value-especially when compared to the tourist trap venues close to the Spanish Steps. We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant for great quality and great value Italian cuisine-especially when it is combined with a stay at the Hotel Meillini. (NB: i have given 4 overall but please read 4.5.
Ristorante nella zona dei prati che offre piatti tradizionali con ingredienti scelti di ottima qualità. provare anche il pesce sempre fresco e ben cucinato.
Cozy place, excellent food, very nice stuff. Very nice clean restaurant, we had steak and fish, both very tasty, a good red wine. The restaurant was empty despite the fact it was Saturday night. Very strange, it seems unknown, but we had one of the best dinners!
