Restaurant Isabelle Auguy - Rodez

Unfortunately it seems that most of the bars in Arras are on the tacky side of tacky, and this one is no exception.

Located near a major train station my hopes were not highHad a greasy but filling cheese burger and one pint of flat Stella.

We were received very enthusiastic.But later while having to make a choice from the menu it was not possible to choose between one dish from a menu and one dish from the " a la carte". The maitre d' / head waiter was very strict and unfriendly pointing this out. I think that is not a very flexible attitude at all. Normally this is always possible and the restaurants ajusts the price which is never a problem. When I asked if the "piece the boeuf" was a big piece he said: no, for the price of 25 Euro what do you expect? When my husband had to choose between cheese or a desert he got impatient and said: it is cheese or desert! Fish dish was very good. Cheese was served too cold. Maybe this head waiter does not like foreigners because he was very charming and friendly to 4 french ladies who were having lunch.

Rodez is a fascinating city to visit, with much new development around its well-preserved historic core. We were just passing through, and found an excellent lunch stop here. Faced with challenging allergies, the staff put together a simple, flavourful lunch, which we enjoyed with affordable wine. Disabled access is unusually good, and there is nice view in this bright and airy resto (but not toward the historic city centre). In fine weather, there is a very attractive terrace.
