The Lionleigh - Rockhampton

Sunday 30th July 2017, lunch time. We have eaten here a few months ago and quite enjoyed our meal, pub fare, yes, but it was good pub fare. Not so today. At around 12.30pm we deliberatey journied over to Wandal to eat the Lionleigh. We ordered our meals, my daughter ordered the chicken burger and I the Caesar Salad with chicken, this was around 12.40. At 1.10pm my daughters burger arrived but no Caesar salad, they were on the same order. 10 minutes later I asked our very nice server if the chef was waiting for my lettuce to grow or something and she apologised profusely and went off to check, she came back saying it wouldn't be much longer as it had been overlooked and could she get us complimentary drinks, I declined the drinks politely and assured her I was annoyed at her as I knew this was not her fault and thanked her for pursuing it. At 1.27 my meal finally landed on the table before me. It most definitely was NOT worth the wait. Wilty salad lettuce, not Cos, with a decent helping of that horrible pressed free flow chicken and some very lightly fried bacon, a sprinkle of Parmesan and some very strong bottled caesar dressing with 4 rounds of toasted dry baguette standing up in it like a small fenced area, dreadful presentation for an equally dreadful meal, free flow chicken is the worst, I know you have crumbed fillet in that kitchen as there was one on my daughters hamburger which was also substandard even for pub fare. Your kitchen needs a shake up. I think you can gather from my reveiw that I was not happy, I do not expect restaurant quality from a pub kitchen but I do expect a certain standard, which was not met today, extremely overpriced for the wait and the fare.

Everything here was alright, but thats about it It was on the high side (price wise) with nothing really to recommend it.

Top place for a quite drink and pokies prior to fly out. Small area designated for pokies and away from the bar a bit. The dinning area is pretty big and the bar area has a free pool table to sink a few! High ceilings and open plan leading out to the foot path outside gives it a cool atmosphere

Quick friendly service. Nice to have reasonable distance between tables affording a little privacy. Attractive, comfortable setting. Wonderful menu ... including a choice of SIX!!!!! yes six vegan/vegetarian options. So nice to have somewhere to lunch or dine with family and friends that caters for vegetarians, vegans, gluten-intolerant diners. So nice to feel 'normal ' rather than like a pariah because I don 't eat meat. Our group all loved their menu choices. Generous servings, nicely presented. Spoiled for choice with winter puddings, divine sticky date with caramel sauce. 10% off food Monday to Friday for seniors. What 's not to love? Will definitely be back .... often.

The staff adhered to COVID-19 requirements and were very friendly. The food was really good, compliments to the chef. There is a room for children to play in and the areas were clean and well presented. A must for a good meal
