My partner and I stopped at this hotel for something to eat at their bistro because it looked nice from their website. We were absolutely famished, I ordered the pasta with pumpkin and spinach and my partner ordered a steak and a serve of sweet potato fries and a salad to share. We heard that apparently they are meant to serve the best steaks in Rockhampton? We were served the most digesting food we have ever eaten in our lives, the service was appalling, no staff on the floor to even be able to tell them how foul the food was. My pasta had no spinach, no pumpkin and no basil, (as stated on the menu) and only had 3 cherry tomatoes, it was microwaved and tasted old. My partners steak was frozen in the middle and we got served wedges, not sweet potato fries and the salad never came out!!This was the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant and honestly put us off the entire city. We couldn't even find a staff member to ask them if they would eat the **** we had Been served, so we left the food on the table and left. We went to McDonald's and got served with a smile and better food than the restaurant. If McDonald's is serving better food than you, you should really consider doing something about your kitchen. I can't understand why oh&s haven't shut this dirty place down. I will never step foot here ever again and I warn you all to stay away from here because you will get food poisoning. Your hotel would make a great contender for Gordon Ramsey's Hotel Hell - I'll be waiting with popcorn!
Have eaten here a few times and most times I have had a good meal. Good selection , reasonably priced.
This beautifully preserved old 1800's hotel, in the heart of Gracemere, North Qld., is a must see, if you are in the Rockhampton area. We have dined there twice now and have been bowled over by the excellent food. Both times we dined on a Friday evening, so the restaurant was full (it seems to be the go-to place for birthday parties), but the food arrived in a reasonable time and was delicious, hot, and well presented. The staff were kept busy, but were friendly and helpful. I'm not sure if it is the lovely blend of old and modern designs inside the restaurant that gives it such a warm and inviting feel, but somet X-factor works there, and you feel at home. Even busy, the hotel has a warm and vibrant atmosphere. It will be our first port of call on our return to the Rockhampton area. Top marks!
I stayed at the Leichhardt for a couple of nights during the week and after a busy day at work, decided that I would eat in.The Bistro has a good selection of meals at a reasonable price. My first night there, I had Grilled Chicken with Sweet Chilli Prawns and the second night I had Rib Fillet topped with Calamari and Pepper Sauce and salad and chips. Both meals were very good and I did not have to wait long for them.I also had the buffet breakfast. There was not a great variety of hot foods (bacon, tomatoes, poached or scrambled eggs), but what was there was very tasty. There was coffee/tea, juice and cereals as well as toast. It is a place that I would stay at again.
