Upon our arrival, Gita surprised us with two delicious heart-shaped chocolate desserts in our room. The breakfast she prepared for us the next morning was equally delightful. She served us coconut yogurt parfaits with granola and berries, banana muffins, waffles with fruit and maple syrup, and hash browns. Ginger Cat is conveniently located near wine country, and we took the opportunity to visit a winery for a tasting and another for dinner. On their website, Gita has a list of vegan-friendly wineries. Gita was an excellent host; we enjoyed chatting with her during breakfast and beyond. Their cats were incredibly friendly, but they were kept in a separate area for guests who are allergic or not fond of cats. We could have easily spent the entire day hanging out with the cats, and another night would be a breeze. For those looking to explore the wine trails nearby or visit the farm sanctuary near Watkins Glen, I highly recommend staying at Ginger Cat!
This B&B is a fantastic option, especially for vegan guests! The host, Gita, is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The property is set on 15 acres of beautiful countryside and the house is clean and welcoming. It is just a 5-minute drive to Watkins Glen and 10 minutes to Farm Sanctuary. There are several friendly cats on the property, although they are not allowed in the guest quarters. Guests are welcome to interact with them at any time. The food at this B&B is outstanding. We enjoyed delicious vegan brunches on Saturday and Sunday that featured a variety of tasty dishes made with local and organic ingredients, some of which were grown in Gita's own garden. The bathroom is also stocked with vegan products and is well maintained. We highly recommend this B&B to any vegan travelers visiting Watkins Glen.
Gita's place is wonderful. The entire place exudes beauty, peace, and love. You will not find a more welcoming place to stay. Gita serves the best breakfast. On our first day, we enjoyed a tofu frittata pie, baked apple oatmeal, sautéed kale with cashews, almond yogurt with fresh fruit, salad, and more. The second day featured a make-your-own burrito day along with yogurt parfait and delicious blueberry muffins. The muffins were fantastic, and Gita even shared the recipe with us. The food was all plentiful and tasty, with many ingredients sourced locally, including from Gita's own garden. There are plenty of coffee and tea options as well. Gita is knowledgeable about the local area, so be sure to ask her for recommendations on the best places to visit and the ideal times to do so. Following her advice made our trip perfect. Don't pay attention to reviews about sulfur in the water; Gita has taken care of that issue, so there's no need to bring your own water. The B&B is conveniently located near vineyards, with Lakewood being a standout among them. Everything is well-maintained and inviting, with brochures available for all attractions, and Gita is happy to provide additional information. There is also a selection of great books to read. The rooms have fans to keep you cool at night, and air conditioning is available during hot days. If you're visiting Watkins Glen, there is no better place to stay than the Ginger Cat.
As soon as they meet gita, they will be taken to their home and there is a connection like a friend or a dance that they haven't seen for long. she has advised to give where they go when they need it, whether it is for wineries, dinners, activities, etc. and of course it is so wonderful not to worry about eating and making bath supplies vegan while they are there. Although we had some great talks, she also gave us a lot of private sphere. she has beautiful gardens and even harvested a little bit to add to the breakfast, like the brombeans we had and she gave us a buck catnip to take our kitties home. kale recipe was really delicious! she has no problem sharing her recipe as I said she's like a friend she's keeping to visit) and so I'll try to get a home. they try to keep up with changes in the companies to pass on the information to their guests. it also uses local products whenever possible. at home is clean and unpredictable. has everything you need. cozy and comfortable. I wish the weather had been warmer because gita said the sky was dark enough to see the milky away in the night. we had a lot of space for covid. it takes additional precautions. I also like that she is great on recycling, which is important to me and so often overlooked when they are in a hotel. cats are cut off in their part of the house, which is separated from where the guests stay. we were invited to meet her and I had to see three of her beautiful cats. So if they are not cats or allergic, allergies should be minimal as they do not have the run of the house. and if they are a cat lover, they are there to meet. lage could not be better. it is really within minutes of everything they want to go, but not exactly where it is busy and loud at high tourism times. the house is located on a very quiet rural road. we're always planning to visit another.
Great place outside the city watkins glen. a piece of heaven with a comfortable room and the best breakfast! and her host, gita, will make sure they have a great stay when they visit farm sanctuary, the state park or the races.
