Thaipop - Rochester

I discovered a fantastic gem during my trip to Rochester, MN. The food, service, and ambiance were all excellent. I am excited to return and try more dishes.

I am not sure why this restaurant is listed on Happy Cow. I contacted them in advance to inquire about their vegan menu options and was told that most of their food could not be made vegan due to the use of fish sauce. They did mention they had one menu item that could be made vegan, but I have been to many Thai restaurants that easily accommodate vegan diets. It seems like this restaurant simply does not prioritize serving the vegan community. When they were a pop-up, they had a strict policy against making modifications for vegetarians or vegans.

The food and ambiance at this restaurant are amazing. The standout dish of the evening was the coconut brisket soup. The service was fantastic and we had a wonderful dining experience for dinner. The price per person ranges between $30-50. I would give the food, service, and atmosphere all a perfect score of 5. I highly recommend trying the brisket when you visit this restaurant.

I would have given this restaurant 4 stars, but my experience last night was not great. The front entrance was left open, allowing a fly to fly into my soup before I could even start eating. Additionally, after dining there today, both my friend and I have fallen ill. The food was subpar, overpriced, and there is a risk of food poisoning. Overall, the dinner experience was disappointing.

Fantastic! The service was a bit slow but understandable due to how busy they were. This restaurant is perfect for a date night, or for catching up with family and friends. The drinks were tasty and the atmosphere was enjoyable.
