Schiano's Pizzeria - Rochester

The pizza here is fantastic! I absolutely loved this restaurant. Make sure to come hungry, as the portions are quite generous.

I went looking for chicken parmesan one day. I had been by Schiano's a bunch and decided to try them. I found the best chicken parmesan sub ever. Their meatball sub is amazing as well. After I ate a bunch of both I decided to try their slices of pizza. I had their meatball ricotta and fell instantly in love. It is heaven on a slice. Also their appetizers are phenomenal. The frickle logs are odd but the best. Best subs in Rochester, amazing appetizers, and great pizza. The staff is pretty darn great too.

During my visit to downtown Rochester, I was searching for a place to eat, and this restaurant was at the top of my list. They advertise themselves as serving New York-style pizza, which is a rare gem in upstate New York, so I was eager to try my favorite type of pie. I ordered wings, a large cheese pizza, soda, and pretzels. Everything looked fantastic! The wings were among the best I've had outside of Buffalo, the kids devoured the pretzels, and while the pizza slice was decent—much better when cold—it didn’t quite reach the level of the best New York-style pizza I’ve tasted. However, I understand that they are competing with some tough standards.

I dropped by the other day while I was working and met the owner, Mario. He seemed like a really nice guy. I ordered a couple of slices and was quite impressed with them. The crust was thin and not greasy at all. The sweet and sour slice (I think it was called Country Sweet) took me back to my days living in Rochester, and I realized there are definitely a few things I miss about that city since moving out to the countryside.

This place always comes through. Garbage plates and famous meatball in a cup are awesome. As well as their pizza! I go here almost every weekend and will continue! Staff is organized and friendly.
