The food was tasty, and the service went well, though I noticed some reviews mentioned the staff might not come off as friendly. I believe this could be attributed to cultural differences; the owners are not native Americans, so their communication style might seem abrupt or impatient. However, we didn’t feel that way during our interactions with the owner, so I would advise not to take it personally. The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting, but we did notice that the walls could use some cleaning – there were splashes of soup and bits of dried noodles stuck to them, which was a bit off-putting. I didn’t take a picture, but it did make me feel slightly uneasy about trying the food, haha. My wife and I shared the fresh spring rolls and both ordered bowls of Pho. The spring rolls were likely the best we had during our trip. The peanut sauce served with them was delicious, perfectly balanced in thickness and sweetness. They were neatly presented, showcasing the shrimp wrapped in rice paper. I felt there could have been a bit more pork in the rolls, but overall, they were well-sized and fairly priced. Now, onto the Pho. I can certainly understand why the gentleman from the Vietnamese Noodle House recommended this restaurant— the Pho was incredible! It surpassed the Pho we had just tried elsewhere, boasting more meat and a flavorful, clear broth rich in deep beef flavor, expertly seasoned and not overly sweet. While many places skip adding pepper to their soups, this restaurant included it, which added an enjoyable touch to the flavor. The price for the Pho is somewhat elevated compared to what one might typically pay, but the quality and taste made it worth it. We both polished off our bowls and left with full stomachs, highly satisfied. In summary, if it weren't for the dirty walls and slightly disorganized atmosphere, this place would certainly deserve a five-star rating. They still seem to have some areas to improve, but it was a solid recommendation for Pho. I would recommend Nam Vang if you’re looking for a quality Pho experience in the Rochester area. I had the best pho in Rochester—second only to my own! The papaya salad was fantastic, the chicken wings were fried to perfection, and the bánh mì tasted just how it should. My husband also ordered the rice plate with pork chop, and we have no complaints at all!
Excellent pho broth! The service was good. The owner may not be very chatty, but I didn’t find him rude, contrary to what I've read in some reviews. He took our order efficiently, refilled our water, and managed everything perfectly for our group of nine. Overall, a great place!
