Billy’s - Roanoke

I went here for a date night, the food was great but we had a very inattentive server. I couldn’t help but get jealous as the table next to us had a server who was going all out and kept checking on them. It would have been nice to have a refill before I was finished with my meal.. It honestly felt like I was at a genetic chain restaurant with hit or miss service and prices that don’t justify the level of service or food.

For the price the food was mediocre. I also felt that our service was lacking. I hate to feel as if we were judged by our appearance, but our server was barely at our table. As a former server I would have been happy to tip much more than 20% but for the service we received it wasn’t worth it.

There was a disruptive table with a gentleman who was obviously over-served, which the servers failed to report to the manager, who claimed he was in the kitchen all night. When I said something to his party, the gentleman threatened me. After the party left, the manager finally showed and never appologized.

Wonderful food! Bacon wrapped scallop appetizer is incredible! The hummus tasted amazing! I opted for the strawberry salad, hands down delicious! My drinks were incredible as well!

Not a bad place to eat, but was expecting more. Avo on toast with scrambled egg was well below standard, with avo that was thinly applied and likely a store purchased avacado emulsion. Eggs were dry and closer to omelette than scrambled. French dip was better but nothing to scream about. Staff were efficiently friendly. Venue has the potential to be something special, but just didn’t shine the day were there and put in the back corner. Would have given 4 stars but couldn’t with the avacado dish being so port.
