I went to U-Mall with a friend for dinner and decided to scout the place first for new restaurants since we have not been there for quite some time. We saw Tokyo Joe and since I have been missing Japanese food and Mashita, this Japanese-Korean place I love closed down, we decided to give Tokyo Joe a try. Tokyo Joe serves good food. It's a good alternative to Tokyo Tokyo if ever you get tired of it. They can cater to large groups even with just a small space. The staff is very charming though they could have saved cleaning time after all customers have gone. Maybe I'm judging too quickly since they just opened, so might check them out again soon.
After class, we were thinking of visiting U-Mall after years of not going there, besides our last visit to wing stop (barf). There were a lot of new restaurants but most of them were already closed since we arrived at 9:00 in the evening. Tokyo joe was one of the few restaurants open and we figured it didn't look so bad. The service was great and te staff were really friendly. I know that we arrived almost during closing time, we didn't really mind that they were already cleaning up. But my only concern was that some staff were sweeping the floor while we were still eating. I found it a bit rude but their friendliness and service somewhat compensated for it. Their meals are very affordable and it is worth eating there. Gyudon bowl Php 159 Pork Katsu and Tempura Php210
Tokyo Joe is one of the newest restaurants in Taft's University Mall. It's surprising how fast the turnover in this place is, given that it has a constant stream of students going in and out. How can you even fail in a location this loaded with foot traffic? Anyway, as I was saying, Tokyo Joe is one of the newer ones. My little sister dragged me here for dinner and I have to say I quite enjoyed it (especially the price, since I was paying for the damn thing). Php59 for 5pcs California Maki? Yes, please!
Well.. tokyo joe?! Which means Rameeen ooh rameeeeeeen.. judging by the name- a mix of america and nippon together.. but the offering was all in Japanese foOd.. i only find some sort of Japanese fushionized dish into american like hamburg bowl (burger in a bowl).. maybe that 's what they meant about the american 'slightly ' connection.. but anyway i came here for a ramen since its raining hard.. i ordered for Miso Ramen and their Texas Crispy Maki and the salad.. it waz a great experience after all.
Not authentic and the prices are a little bit high for a student. We ordered the sushi buffet for p199 but as to my surprise, the price tells the taste. So the sushi was not good. No need to avail it. Aside from that, we ordered miso ramen. Noodles did not come from scratch but it wasnt that bad. However, it'a kinda salty. I am tempted to tell the waiter/cashier that their miso ramen is kinda salty.
