The selection of the dishes was very limited, especially because they presented us only one of the two menu cards on the first evening. The food was good, the portions very small and the prices very high. For me it was not worth the price considering the whole package with ambiance, service and presentation. For this price range I would expect more hospitality.
Safe a visit worth. great local and homemade products. beautiful terrace. Nevertheless, you will not get rid of the impression that the restorative has the best times over.
We actually only stopped in while hiking down the mountain, just to use the restroom. It smelled so wonderful in the front foyer that I went back outside to get my wife to bring her in. We decided to see what the restaurant was like, maybe get a snack - this place had not come up in our research of Rigi restaurants previously. We were seated right at the window, with a beautiful view. And then we were treated to one of the most incredible meals we've ever had. The chef himself, Benjamin Just, came out to greet us and see if we had any questions. We explained that we weren't even expecting to eat, but that we were excited to try new things, and told him that were happy to turn him loose to bring us whatever he thought would be exciting and fun to try. We tried different breads and cheeses, a dish with poached egg, Hollandaise sauce and asparagus, another dish with a smoked vennison in a creamy garlic basil sauce with freshly chopped Russian taragon, and a dessert with Swiss strudel and cream and sorbet and about 200 different flavors that just exploded in our mouths. And he also brought out small soup samplers, so we could try different flavors and textures. It wasn't just good - it was as good as any meal I've ever had, in any country. Even the wine was fantastic - their recommendations perfectly complimented each dish. Everything was wonderful - the food, the wine, the attention from Chef Just, even the waiter who took care of us as if we were the only table he'd have all day (we weren't.) We give this restaurant our highest recommendation - if you're going up Rigi, and want to enjoy beautiful views and superb food in a lovely and quaint dining room, this is a don't-miss-it place. And to think we almost walked right by it.
The philosophy is clear: only Swiss products! this is challenging, the kitchen sometimes has to find creative solutions. but that is what she does: we have enjoyed a tasting menu that is strongly based on criminal and mushrooms, all very pleasant, all very beautifully dressed and tastefully always surprising and interesting. I cannot forgive the highest score because the ambiente can clearly not withstand the quality of the feed, which harms the overall experience. white tablecloths must be simple with this quality (instead a dark brown coat was lying on the table, little appetizing. but that should be easy to fix.
Rather unhope we have landed for dinner in a noble white. eating was good but not excellent. especially the service did not correspond to what we would have expected in this yet upscale price class. repeatedly, the service power for choice, for a tee or for announcing but still missing items could not give us any information. "I have to ask in the kitchen" remained without any feedback, "the chef comes and tells them what tees we offer" did not come despite repeated demand - a rather disappointing experience.
