Vecmeita Ar Kaķi - Riga

One of the best restaurants in Riga. Everything is just right at this gem in the old town, the typical Latvian cuisine and also the ambience. The prices are surprisingly moderate for the city centre and the portions are just right. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. We had an unforgettable evening here! We thank you and will definitely come back again!

Staff is very friendly and kind but appears to be slightly overworked, especially if many customers are visiting at once. The food, however, is amazing. My friend and I went to this restaurant expecting that the food would be alright given that the prices are lower than other restaurants further north in Old Town. We were positively surprised by the quality of the food, and I must say that this is the type of food that many other restaurants would charge you double the price for! My absolute favourite was the creamy chicken pasta with truffle oil. I can also recommend their white wine, and their kvass. The restaurant is located right next to Riga Castle and an adjoining little park, which makes for a nice and pleasant view. When my friend and I were in Riga, we went to have dinner at this restaurant every day because of the relatively low price tag and good food. Unfortunately we were not able to try the rye garlic bread as the restaurant was all out of them due to the large number of customers, but we very much enjoyed the food nonetheless. I thoroughly recommend this place to anyone who wants a good and hardy meal for an affordable price!

Delicious food and great service! Got the drinks and food quickly. Well-prepared dishes make the simple flavors taste very good when combined on a plate. Very nice price-quality ratio

We stumbled upon this cosy restaurant when we were walking past the riga castle. The food is extremely good! We took the goulash, broccoli soup and buckwheat with mincemeat. These were all delicious and had a home cooked feeling to them. We definitely recommend this place since the food is great and it is good value for money!!
