Golden Lion - Richmondshire

I came on my own one night, and ordered the souffle. It was so good we came back 2 nights later. Three delicious souffles they couldn't have been better.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in leyburn market place.We were going on the gin train on the Saturday so arrived at this hotel on the Friday evening.We checked in and the bar and lounge area was extremely busy with diners.The meals looked very nice but we had eaten earlier so just went into leyburn to have a drink. The room was very large and it had a comfortable bed,hot powerful shower and was very clean and tidy.Tea and coffee facilities were in the room and a large tv on the wall.There is free parking in the market place opposite and chargeable parking to the rear of this hotel in a public carpark. The breakfast was served between 8 9 am and was very nice with cereals,yoghurt,fruit and the full breakfast was really well cooked with lovely produce.There was plenty of toast,tea and coffee available from a really friendly owner. Would thoroughly recommend a stay at this hotel its a pity we never tried the lunch/evening meals. Great hotel break in a nice location.

My partner and I spent two nights at this pub this week for the first time and were well looked after. Our room was at the front overlooking the town square and was really big with a two seater settee, a chair and rocking chair. The room was very quiet and we slept well. Food was excellent, a good choice in the evening and breakfast was served in a light airy room at the rear. Everything was well presented at your table with everything you need, cereals, muesli, blueberries, strawberries, yoghurt, toast and an excellent full English. Next time we are in the area we will definitely return. The choice of evening meals was very good. The mussels in coconut sauce is worth trying.

Honestly there is nothing negative about this place, from arriving in leyburn on Sunday 'the crazy 6 ' had Sunday lunch (booked after seeing reviews) and we went again Monday night, (booking adviseable). This was outstanding service from all on front of house, but the food was completely restaurant srandard. Definitely recommend. Thank you for looking after us all, especially, after fitting us in when you were very busy.

Despite a board outside the pub advertising food available from 5pm when we asked for a table at 5pm we were told there was no availability at that time or any other time in the evening. We had a drink as it had already been...
