The table sizes were small, making it difficult to comfortably dine with another person. There was a long line for the single toilet, which was not clean. I ordered a medium-sized chicken steak and potato salad, which cost £25 without drinks. The prices for drinks were also quite expensive, with a lemonade costing £5.70 and a pint of cider costing £7.90. However, the location by the riverside was very nice.
A impromptu stop as we were walking along The Thames and fancied a coffee. We had a lovely table with great views. We wanted to stop for an alcoholic drink and were advised that their license meant that you had to have something to eat as well (this took us back to the ‘scotch egg’ days of recent years gone by . Our very friendly waiter suggested a pretzel which was huge and absolutely delicious. If you are lucky you might see one of the green parrots. Apparently (according to our waiter , in years gone by 2 green parrots escaped from a house and never returned, they have mated and the family grown over the years. The noise they make is very distinctive and they are very beautiful. A really nice spot and we will be back.
Walking by the Thames we stopped at Stein’s w German restaurant for lunch. We ordered Pork and Chicken Schnitzel with oven baked potates served on wooden platters. The dishes and drinks arrived promptly. Both dishes were very tasty but for some reason the pork dish was twice size of the chicken dish. The restaurant was busy and overall the service was friendly and attentive. The bill including 1 beer and 2 small bottles of water £58.54 including tip. This is Richmond and it can be expensive.
This restaurant is the closest thing to being in Germany without actually going there! My group ordered two sharing platters for 5 people and had plenty of delicious food, along with a few sides. The meatloaf was surprisingly my favorite dish. The location is fantastic and the staff is friendly and helpful.
The quality of the food at this restaurant has declined since our last visit. The dishes look and taste cheap, yet they charge exorbitant prices. The service was quick, but when I tried to order takeout, the waiter ignored me and took a long time to fulfill my request. The takeaway boxes were disorganized, with sausage portions and sides mixed up. This will be our last visit to this restaurant. I can easily find similar sausages at Lidl and my mash is much better for a fraction of the price they charge. I am willing to pay for quality, regardless of the location, but this restaurant does not meet my standards.
