Breakfast is a traditional South menu! My husband got “The Whole Barrell” for $10.50 and it came with 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, your choice of sausage/babes/muffin/toast, your choice of potatoes shredded/hash/rounds, traditional grottos and your choice of biscuit/English muffin/toast. I have the egg/cheese/bacon biscuit with corn-Rindhasch! The biscuit was $3,75 and a side of corn beef hash to which I believe was between $2-$3. This little diner is perhaps a mile from the Interstate behind the Exon gas station. We would highly recommend stopping and supporting this delicious local comfort dinner!
Absolutely one of the best places for a diverse menu of southern traditions. The whole food was extraordinary. The desserts are phenomenal. How suspected when we asked, they're all taken home in the store. Very recommended.
This is by far the best restorer I have observed since previous COVID. Customer service is a 10, service 10 food selection food Quailty 10 atmosphere 10 I have the fried Oysters with hush puppies and a cup of ham bean soup. The oysters were freshly broken NOT FROZEN!! And big with a light fluffy dough, so you tasted the fresh oyster and not a bunch of fried flour. The soup was just perfect! The Hush puppies were hot fresh and delicous. I recommend this amazing restaurant! I already plan my next visit to the area so that I go back to the Pickle Barrel and try some of the many options of products they offer.
I came here for the chicken fried steaks....the best I had for a long time!!! I love this country, the vibe....it can be my favorite peaceful place to chow down on land meal. Great food and good service!! A hidden jewel for food.
First, the negative: our young waitress seemed inexperienced and unfamiliar with the menu, could not answer most of our questions and seemed a bit annoyed at being asked, and we had to grab her attention when it seemed like a very long wait for the meals; she then went to the kitchen and returned with our meals. Never checked back to ask how things were, offer dessert, the usual tasks of waitressing. It was not exceptionally busy this particular Sunday evening. My husband said his portion size was a bit small (ordered a special). Positive: We've been here before and usually the service is excellent. Have always been seated promptly, haven't had to wait. Really like the decor and homey vibe, and my dinner was delicious and portion size was ample. We'll be back.
