I appreciate this place since Midlothian is full of chains! I got the camarones entomatado, which was a garlicky parsley tomato sauce, with beans and rice. It's bursting with flavor and delicious over all! The rice was a bit underdone though. I also don't like that they use styrofoam : The natural tamarindo is yummy
After picking up my car for some work at a service shop nearby we wanted dinner so I went to yelp to see what's up around here. I wanted close, not pizza/hamburgers/bbq, and this place seemed interesting and 0.8 miles away. Oh man was I was so pleasantly surprised. Food was soooo delicious. And the spices they use is definitely Salvadoran. If your used to Mexican yes it's similar but still not anywhere near the same if that makes any sense. My ribs and chorizo was amazing. My moms burrito amazing. The tamales in the banana leaves are so far the best tamales I've had in Richmond. Anyway idk if I'll be back before I move but this place was awesome and such a nice different breath of Latin cuisine in the area.
WOW...just WOW!!! Don't read anymore, just go!!!! You won't be disappointed. When I used to work in Adams Morgan 15+ years ago there were street vendors that would sell Pupusas and El Salvadoran soup that I would have for lunch. Coming here made me remember how much I miss it... but so happy there is now a place that is so close to us. Rosita is located in between Texas Roadhouse and Chick Fil A next to the Steinway and Sons (honestly never noticed it was ever there). It is a small and quaint little place. It was super clean which is always a bonus. There were roughly 6-4 seaters and 2-2 seaters. It seems like it's a family run spot, mom, dad and daughter (super nice) . Abuelitas down on Midlothian Turnpike and Bocata Latin Grill on walmsley seem to be to hot spots of Latin cuisine... but I definitely think Rosita is an up and comer. Just need to get more people to try it out. My husband and our two kids literally went all out... we ordered: Pastelitas, Pupusas (three different types), Sopa De Pescado, Sopa de Res, Kids Chicken Tenders and Rice. The waitress (I think the daughter) gave us some great recommendations. We were provided Chips and Salsa. Salsa was very mild but had a good smoky flavor... wish it was spicier though. We were going to get the taquitos but then saw the empanadas. The waitress then informed us that it is actually a sweet empanada so it is more of a dessert. Glad she told us as we decided to not get it and go with something savory, the Pastelitas (Ahmazing). The Pastelitas (came with 4) were filled with chicken and cheese. So good! They did end up gifting us an empanada to try which was filled with plantains and cream very yummy... the kids loved it. But since it was more of a dessert it may help with the confusion if it was towards the end of the menu since it's sweet. We also ordered a 3 piece Pupusas...that came with dip and slaw which I love since it wasn't mayo based more vinegar based, but light. We had a Pork and Cheese, Shrimp and a Mixture of Shrimp and everything. Again so delicious brought me back to some good memories. Not only were they good they were super cheap... one could easily eat this as a meal. We ended up packing up 2 Pastelitas and 1 1/2 Pupusas so we had leftovers (I'm super psyched about it). For our meals my husband got the seafood soup (Sopa de Pescado-Cream) and I got the Beef soup (Sopa de Res). Both were amazing. I can't wait till it's cold outside because these soups would be amazing. Each were roughly $11.95... we both had leftovers of each soup. The Seafood soup had a large piece of fish, crabs, calamari and tons of veggies. It reminded me of a lobster bisque but spicy and not as thick. The Beef soup was totally up my alley... actually reminds me a lot of a soup my mom made when I was growing up so flavorful just the kind of soup you want if you are ever sick... it was so yummy and delicious. Tons of beef on the bone, cabbage, yuca, carrots etc. so good!!! We also got a chicken tenders and rice kids meal which was also good... seemed like they breaded their own chicken tenders and made the rice. My kids not only enjoyed that but really enjoyed bits and pieces of everything we ate. The bill without tips was less than $50! Honestly, we ordered way more just because we wanted to try everything but if we just stuck with two soups and the Pastelitas the kids would've been able to enjoy both soups and Pastelitas and it would've been around $30 total. Honestly, I can't wait to go back, it was that good! I think the only thing I wish they would consider is getting new chairs or getting some cushions for the chairs... I think you will know what I mean when you go... not the most comfortable. Regardless, it won't stop us from going back.
We go out every 2 weeks to dinner. I wanted something close. By chance we discovered Rositas. Just opened. What a jewel. Please please Midlothian, let's keep this resto open! The food is superb. The wait staff is attentive and helpful. For the quality of the food and preparation, the prices are rock bottom. Delicioso!!
