Jamaica House - Richmond

Finally ! Some good Jamaican food, didn’t know I had to leave the DC area to find it. It was worth it! Came in town for the weekend for a conference this was my first stop because I didn’t have lunch yet. Staff were all very nice. Food is made to order and it took 30min. I got the oxtail with rice and peas and cabbage, jerk wings and a beef patty. I will definitely be back! Great food!

I ordered online picked up my order during my lunch break. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated upon my arrival. The food was delicious it was my first time trying this spot. The prices were great and the large portion(s) surprised me! My food was fresh and hot! I ordered the curry shrimp entree with plantain. I will definitely be returning to dine in sometime.

Even though I usually get take out, the place is ALWAYS lively, clean,, with happy employees who are ready to serve. Since I call ahead, the order is always ready. They have no problem accommodating special requests, which is greatly appreciated. If you have a craving for Jamaican Food, this is the place to go. I recommend, Brown Stew Chicken... savory with juicy meat and just the right amount of heat... don't forget your CoCo bread and one of their authentic juices and you're all set!!!!! ENJOY

I had the salmon with coconut sauce and it is ridiculously delicious. ???? I love the attention they pay to the customers. There are no numbers on the tables and you have to order at the register but they know just where to bring your food. The serving sizes are decent. Definitely worth the wait. I will be stopping by here when hungry traveling through Richmond.

First, let me say I absolutely love Caribbean food, but it NEVER ceases to amaze me that the people who own/run these establishments are rude or have bad customer service. They don't speak and have little interaction with you. Like this place, we spoke to 3 staff members, and all of them half spoke.The food portions were large. The oxtails were tasty, but I've had better. My significant other had the j pork well seasoned, but a little spicy. I noticed both dishes had the same gravy/ sauce on them. The cabbage was al dente, actually almost raw. The ambiance was nice and clean. I would definitely come back, but they need to be more pleasant.
