The service was excellent, and the owner, who also cooks and hosts, is doing a fantastic job with this relatively new establishment. My companions were just as impressed as I was!
Absolutely terrible. This place needs to be shut down. The food is burnt and old, and the prices are outrageous. There were roaches in the bathroom! This is not authentic Jamaican cuisine. One of the staff had eyelashes that were longer than RuPaul's; I've never seen island women wear strips like that instead of individual lashes. And the manager looked like an old Lexus! I even tried giving my dog a chicken wing, and he rejected it. The only positive thing about this place is the cashier, who was wonderful. The mac and cheese was just boiled pasta with shredded cheese on top. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of this place. Evil never wins!
According to the young lady who took our order, this Short Pump location had just opened last week. My wife ordered the stewed chicken, while I opted for the jerk wings. Both meals came with cabbage and rice with beans. Unfortunately, the food was completely bland; had we not taken it home, we would have requested a refund. We’ve previously enjoyed meals from their Laburnum Avenue location, but after trying this one, it seems that the quality may vary between locations. It’s definitely a “hit and miss.”
Vegan options are INCREDIBLE. This is the second day in a row I've ordered from here. The first time, I ordered the stew veggie meatballs and today I got the jerk veggie meatballs. Both times I also ordered a side of plantains. The veggie meatballs are kind of like falafel and they are so moist and flavorful, it's unbelievable. Both sauces were so delicious. They came with cabbage, veggies, and rice and beans, which were all perfectly seasoned and tasted fresh. The plantains are awesome, too. I love that they serve such large portions of everything, it's a great value for your money. It's always so awesome discovering a new place that offers different vegan options than what most restaurants in Richmond offer, and this place is definitely a new Go-To spot of mine. I can't wait to try the coconut chickpea dish next. HIGHLY recommend this spot, vegan or not. The quality, freshness, flavor, and timeliness was off the charts.
Ok 2nd visit. Wanted too b sure it is what it is b4 leaving a review. Loaded w/rice 4 bones in a small oxtail, overly spicy almost like they sprinkle hot peppers on the meat. Food was luke warm it was early like 11:30am so could have been left from night b4 it was not like stove hot or like it was just cooked, so don't go early. Honestly I have had way better, try Jamaica House on Broad Steet f u want some decent oxtail, no comparison to Jamaica House won't order Irie Vibes anymore not worth the price barley any meat. Cabbage soggy no more for me. Again they load you up with a lot of rice so that the plate feels heavy, but when you open it u will be disappointed. We all know rice is not expense so they give you all of that and very slack on the oxtail we all know ox-tails r expense but when u spend dam near 20.00 for a plate you want meat in it . It was not good at all, don't waist your money go Jamaica House.
