Przekaż informację zwrotnąI was introduced here by an extra-city friend. Overall, our experience was decent. Here's our review (5 his top notch) 5 for Ambience 3 for Parking 2 for Restaurant Reservation System 4 for Food Taste 2.5 for Value I phoned a day before to make lunch reservations, but was said they were 'full'. We came around 12 and said we had to wait for an hour. We put our names on a 'list' that proved to be useless when I saw that many people are simply entering without names. Looks suspicious when we thought we were special. The place is at Parker Place shopping center, which was a problem to find a place on Saturday. The prices were higher than other places like us for the ambience, fancy settings, nice food garnishes decent tasting dim sum. Bill was about $160 for 11 dishes. Menu selection was good, but not counting on finding your favorites. Mine was sesame, the deep fried eggs. Service was attentive. A good place to take guests from the city or to come for a special occasion. Not sure about the dinner menu. I'm sure you pay a premium. I doubt I'm back. There are others to try.
It's about a jillion-and-one place to get the sum in Vancouver and we barely scratched the surface. But this is not for lack of attempts! We decided to drop the Parker Place Mall in early November and try Shun Feng Seafood. Is it just me or is Parker Place dead? Many of the mall tenants seemed closed when we visited, but the parking was still super busy. When we arrived at Shun Feng at 10 a.m., it was not very busy, but we were impressed how beautiful the place was at the first inspection. However, we noticed that some of the lusters had stopped. a part of the splendour and sparkling from the courts had damped). Also, this place seemed super slow to get the food out. The first dish that came out was the Mashed Taro with Minced Pork and Pine Nut Dumplings $9.68 SL), which were elegantly presented in the form of swans and accompanied with guards. We had a similar dish at another dimm-sum place recently and I must say that Shun Feng's version was much better with a delicate crispy and fluffy topping and a moist and juicy filling. Next was the Pan-Fried Chive with shrimp dumplings $8.68 SP. Again a good start for our Dim-Summe, as these babies had a beautiful crispy ground and a beautiful shrimp filling. The Steamed Tripe and Tendon $8.68 SP) court had big pieces of the tendon, but we were disappointed that it was only about 4 pieces of honeycomb trip. Another hit was the Steamed Minced Beef Balls with Watercress $6.68 M), which was one of the cheaper items on their menu. The last dish we ordered was the rice roll with Bean Curd Skin and Fish Paste $8.68 SP). The bean curd wrap was light and crispy, but the fish paste filling was quite large and dense. I actually had difficulty chewing this because the thickness of the fish paste filling combined with the crispy bean curd made it too much of an effort to chew through. Maybe if the pieces were cut smaller, it wouldn't have disturbed me so much. Overall, most foods here were pretty good, but I thought prices were at the top of the spectrum. The big drawback I found here was that it was super slow. It was 30 minutes before our first court.
Three of us ladies were in the restaurant for the first time. We all enjoyed food, service and conversation. The price is also reasonable.
Important cave from above: This review is based on a private dinner party of 50 people in a private room with a set menu on $1150 per table. Most diners will probably choose to order a la carte. The first impression was of the establishment... a strange, antiseptic, gaudier, neo-communist China attempt at five star accommodations. Not to my taste. The private room we are equipped with TV screen and karaoke mosaics that we tried to use for speeches that were terrible because of the overuse of reverb and delay. But service was very good. Fast and attentive participants who took care of every need and request. Plates changed as needed. Red hop sticks for municipal use. Blacks for personal use. Single towels. White table cloth service. The food was quite amazing with some very new taste for this lifelong Asian food. Fucking? Cattlehead cheese? Green vegetables braided with shaved young coconut? Lobster mixed in a protein salad? All these dishes were new to me and although very exotic and expensive are not good filling and I was very happy to see the traditional roasted rice and noodles come to the end of the meal. But at $110 pp you have to expect something fanciness to justify the costs. Oh, yeah, the beef that was literally served on the bone was amazing. We even kept the foot long bones for our dog when we came home what she loved. All in all, I will not forget a gastronomic experience. Enjoyed all food aspects and service. However, you need to bring a professional decorator to warm the place to get five stars from me. I will not order this menu again; too rich for my blood. I'm just glad I didn't stick with the over $6000 meal tab. Sometimes a good burger and beer from the local pub is just as satisfying to a fraction of the price. But it is satisfying to learn how the other half lives, even it is only for a few hours.
This is in the Parker Place complex off No. 3 Road. Bright and lots of tables. No push carts so you have to order off the menu and checklist. Very authentic and good selection (though no deep fried Sesame Balls! . Each bamboo steamer basket of dumplings (ie. Har-gow, Siu-Mei, etc contains 5 pieces though each basket costs on average about $9CDN. The food was delicious. The restaurant was packed by noon time...mostly locals in my opinion. Lots of free parking. It cost the 2 of about $45CDN before gratuity.
