That is absolutely ridiculous. What made this more painful was the fact that I accidentally ordered it. Their dim sum order forms are a bit confusing as not all the items line up correctly with the space where you are ordering. When the Gai Lan appeared, I said I didn’t order this and the server (here is where the RUDE part comes in), pointed to my sheet and said “Yes you did!” I said oh oops, I made a mistake, I meant to order the noodles (which were above or below, I can’t recall), and she said just looked at me and walked away saying “you order!”. Food quality was good so I can’t complain but for two of us to eat lunch, 4 dim sum items and my $24.00 plate of Gai Lan, came to $72.00!!! I could have had a much more substantial and fancy meal fir that price. When I went to pay, the lady was so rude and kept shushing me when I told her how I wanted to pay the bill (two separate forms of payment). Again, how rude! Many other options for Dim Sum in Richmond. Will not go again and would not recommend unless you want to spend $24.00 on a plate of Gai lan with garlic.
This Cantonese Chinese restaurant inside the Richmond mall serves dim sum all day long, from 9am to 8pm. There is convenient parking, delicious dishes, and friendly staff.
Don't come here and expecting top class food or service , those days a long gone and business slowly going down hill for the last two years , maybe a new owner or just too many Upscale restaurants in the area , the good old days packed all the time , line up less half hours or more , lot of parking in the mall and my 6 years nephew do not want to go any where for lunch only Dim Sum , so we dropped in after 1 pm , the whole dinning room only have two tablets occupied the Manager and staff not friendly or not professional at all ,, look at us and said How Many ! I ask her for a large tablet , she looked at me and said How Big the tablet you want ! Wow ! looks they just come back from a funeral , it is a all day Dim Sum and not a high end , very mediocre , but eatable , lot of item is frozen and tone of MSG , hit and miss some steam item over steam , the seafood chow mein very oily and salty , little pricy with the quality you get , for sure I am not coming back here , if you pay me , there is so many good restaurants around in the area and lovely food court on the second floor , but less my nephew is full .
The food was delicious, the staff was fast and courteous, they followed all health guidelines. The restaurant has flexible opening hours. Highly recommend!
Shi Art opens at 8:30 AM which I believe accounts for it's popularity as most other Richmond dim sum restaurants open closer to 10 AM. Parking at Richmond Centre tends to become more of a challenge closer to noon time. The dim sum items at the Shi Art are nice and at a par with the dim sum offerings of other dim sum restaurants in Richmond. This restaurant still retains it's habit of insisting to enter the amount of the purchase into the wireless remote reader and then encouraging patrons to leave a higher gratuity.
