If you like pho you have to come here to try menu item #37: Tuan’s special beef noodle. It’s essentially a pho tai bo vien (rare beef and beef ball noodle soup) with an egg yolk which can be broken into the noodles to give them a creamy texture and interesting flavour. The soup is a little sweet and unique in a good way. They add a lot of beef. It has a charred, barbecue-y flavour which is unusual in pho but is yet another interesting and unique addition to this chef’s specialty dish.Other food I have tried here are average: chicken wings, beef carpaccio, pho ga, bun bo hueSince moving to the new location the service has gotten worse. I imagine they hired new staff and the service will improve as they gain experience. Looking forward to coming again since item #37 is that good.
Vietnamese food at its best… We loved the chicken wings in particular! This week is their grand opening week and they’re offering 15% off the bill. The line outside the door at around 7 pm on a Friday night was longish, but not too long of a wait as the restaurant is large. The beautiful decor with its large chandeliers, floral theme, plush sofas in the extended wait area, and even ornate washroom doors makes the restaurant quite unique. Just don’t get seated near the floor to ceiling windows as it’s chilly there. The service still needs some tweaking, but overall it’s pretty good.We went back on Sunday (last day of 15% off promotion btw) for me to have their chicken wings again. Big surprise! They tasted nothing like two days ago. There was hardly any seasoning. I asked if it was the same cook (after the waiter got someone who could speak English) and he said yes. I was offered another order of wings; they looked different, but still lacked the taste. They kindly took the wings off our bill. I appreciate how I was listened to and how they tried to please.
I enjoy this authentic Vietnamese restaurant pretty much and visited quite often when I worked downtown. This Richmond location is nice too. In this sunny summer, I ordered Papaya salad instead of their signature pho. The salad was so refreshing and it’s a perfect match with hot Viet coffee ???
Review from guy eating his way through the Vietnamese restaurants in the Lower Mainland. This was my first time here at this new location but I have visited their other spots multiple times. They have a location in Ironwood and their previous shop was just on the other side of the Capstan plaza.Business must be good as they have relocated to this shiny, larger space. The restaurant was packed today and there was a short line up wait list when we arrived. It moved quickly though as they have a large number of tables inside. The main dining area is an atrium so it can get quite loud with all the diners chatting away. But it feels quite spacious and the various sizes of tables can accommodate families and groups of friends.Pho 37 is special to me because it serves one of the top bowls of Pho in my opinion and my taste preferences. I love their Tuan’s Special. I don’t know who Tuan is but this bowl of Pho is spectacular. What is it? You get a poached egg along with slightly seared garlic beef. The seared beef will add a smokiness to the broth and breaking the egg releases a creaminess into your soup. You got to try it at least once.Rays Tips:10% off every MondayParking: Lots of parking in strip mall but shared with many other businesses.
