Maxim's Bakery - Richmond

My appreciation for Maxims has waned over time due to increased competition. One day, as I was passing by with my brother who wanted a bun, I noticed their moon cakes and thought, why not? I know a friend whose family would enjoy them. The packaging is really beautiful, and when you open it, it's even more elegantly presented. I have to say, I'm quite impressed. Well done, Maxims!

Maxim's uses a wonderfully sweet dough that is absolutely delicious, especially when it's fresh.

I tried their snow mooncakes and opted for the mango and blueberry flavors. Each was nearly $10, but they were absolutely delicious. You can really tell that these mooncakes are fresh, as they weren't dry or chewy at all.

Well cooked buns for a quick lunch. Sometimes I find Asian buns are somewhat raw at the bottom or middle but this one was throughly cooked and tasty. I had the baked corn, cheese, and sausage bun and it had a good balance of toppings. It tasted of mayo, cheese, and hot dogs, could have used more corn.

I come to this bakery to get baked goods for special occasions, their fruit cakes are so tasty but this place is cash only
