The staff greeted us warmly and offered us customized options that were not listed on the menu based on our group size. The fish was well-cooked with a light batter, though the pieces were on the smaller side. The chips were above average, crispy and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by White Salt, as I had initially expected it to be a typical takeaway fish and chips place, especially in a small town.
This restaurant serves the freshest and largest serving of fish and chips I have had in Victoria! The chips were clearly not frozen from a supermarket bag as they came in various sizes and shapes. The taste of the potato was evident, not just the grease. The fish was incredibly fresh and flavorful, as Phillip Island is known for. The batter was not too thick and the meat was juicy. The service was also excellent. Overall, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit!
White Salt Fish and Chippery gets my award for the best fish and chips on the Island. Hand cut chips and perfectly cooked fish, this place treats the classic fish and chips with a whole lot of love and care. Very busy at times but well worth the wait.
This place has the best chips on Phillip Island. All hand cut. Costs a little bit (no less than anywhere else with this quality) more but well worth paying the extra. Friendly staff
We've been here several times already, and this is one of the best fish and chips joints around.<br/ <br/ Not the cheapest fish and chips takeaway joint, a meal for 2 (with flathead) is around $30. But in that meal for 2 you get HEAPS of fresh flathead fillets, absolutely glorious. The batter is light but you still get that non-greasy crunchiness. Calamari rings and prawns are great too. The handcut chips are fantastic. We often couldn't finish the chips in one go but save them and reheat them on the grill the next day, and still good. Hubby and toddler love this place too.<br/ <br/ Whenever we go to Phillip Island, we always drop by this place. Highly recommended
