Neat small bar/grill, the delicious sandwiches and a small selection of tap beers served. Cosy atmosphere ensures a pleasant culinary experience. They also had weekly trivia competitions that do not have to give dummies, but very funny.

On Friday at 3 p.m. it was about the dinner club vibe and retro feeling. The staff was not super friendly, but friendly. Ordered a brandy old fashioned sweet to begin with special of the day, a ribeye steak sandwich and French onion soup. I also have an order of cheese curds as an appetizer. Waiting for drinks and eating was very reasonable. The Brandy OF is delicious, one of the best I had in a long time. I wish the same thing could be said for food. The French onion soup came out first and was the best part of the meal in which it was decent. The cheese curds are directly from a Sysco box and were barely cooked. When I got the sandwich, it was just a piece of steak on a roll - no additional ingredients, and more about, no taste. Fortunately, prices were quite reasonable. In summary, come for drinks, but look for food elsewhere.

Good food, good prices. Wish they were open on weekends and later in the evening during the week. The hot Hemlock Sandwich is my favorite!

Enjoy our first visit to the Northwestern Hotel Lounge Justin our bartender, a better looking version of Jay Leno was friendly, friendly and patient with us at our first visit. He would like to explain the menu, etc. he made it a fun visit and the Hemlock Sandwiches were delicious. I also tried the wild rice soup, it was great. This place has a serious history (I would like to know more) which is due to the early growth of Rheinlander, as it lies directly opposite the railway station (non-operating), as the tracks were removed about 30 years ago. If you are looking for new and fashionable, this is not the place for you but if you want to go where the locals go, eat like the locals, and enjoy some of the historical ambience, then the northwest when for you. Even if you find out the origin of the name for the Hemlock sandwich, let me know I'm curious. Enjoy

The food is great. You should try the Mexican chili. It really is the bomb. If a sandwich is what you crave, then try the absolutely delicious Hemlock....happy eats and drinks!
